I really haven't had a chance to put this through its paces, but I wanted to provide a quick review for now for anyone considering this as a Christmas gift. While this is the first hoverboard I've gotten for my boys, it's not the first one they've ridden so that really helped a lot when first testing this out. Apart from being slightly smaller, this one works exactly like those. Lean forward to move forward, lean back to go in reverse, press down on right to turn clockwise and left to turn the other way. Balancing is only tricky at first, but really just take a minute to get the hang of. The red and white guide lights that come on automatically are a nice touch and will certainty come in handy if you ever find yourself cruising after dark. When testing indoors, this thing moved faster than I was expecting and made me happy knowing that this has some pep. It also feels well made with durable outer plastic and nice feeling wheels. My only issue with this is some of the inconsistencies in the product description. For example, one picture says top speed is 8.5 mph while another puts it at 7.5 mph. Couldn't tell which it was based on my quick testing, though it felt fast enough. Same with range with it stating 7.5 miles of range in one place and 8.5 miles of range elsewhere. Also, like another review said, the weigh rating on the product description states 220 pounds. However, the brochure it came with states 132 pounds (for the model I ordered anyway). This could be a typo as all of the models seem to have the same dual 250w motor. Also, I weigh 144 and was able to ride it just fine without getting any over-the-weight-limit warning beep. Besides, this is for my two sons to ride--both of whom weigh less than 70 pounds. I haven't tested how long it lasts, but we really can't wait to try this outside (it's been raining the past few days where we live). Based on my quick assessment, I would recommend this for sure. If that changes after more extensive use, I update this review.

This review is for the Simate Hoverboard. It comes with a USB C charger included with the unit. There is a power button to turn it on or off. When you first turn the hoverboard on, it beeps and the central lights and the hub lights turn on. When you step on to it evenly, it beeps again and the central lights under your feet change to green. The hoverboard takes a little practice to balance on it and control it with the black rocking pad. If you lean forward on it evenly with both feet, you will go forwards. If you lean backwards evenly with both feet, you go backwards. To turn, lean on the opposite side you want to go with one foot. The amount you lean also controls your speed and it beeps whenever you move in either direction. As you lean to move your hoverboard, a white light on in the front and a red light in the back turns on and the central lights change color. The lights make it very colorful especially if you are riding it in the dark. There is an app called "XsCar" that you can use for more controls on your hoverboard. You can turn the power on/off, adjust lights, monitor speed and battery power, set speed modes (safe mode, beginner mode, and sports mode), etc. I didn't connect it to my phone but it has a built in bluetooth speaker if you want to play music as you use it.

In several places in the listing the maximum load is noted as 220 lbs, including the table that compares the five SIMATE models. However, the manual that comes with the unit specifies the K3 model (this one) as 132 maximum; only the K1 and K1+ go up to 220. Some other hoverboard listings have the same problem where the specs of the manufacturer's most capable model are shown rather than those of the model in the listing (AMAZON, YOU NEED TO ENFORCE ACCURACY IN THE LISTINGS!) I weigh 167 lbs so I am over the limit. I ordered the thing based on the flawed information expecting that it would work for me and I will judge it accordingly. I wanted to use this with a hoverboard kart (Hover-1 Buggy) that requires 17" between the inside of the fenders. This board has only 15". No manufacturer lists this spec, but they do list overall width and most are 22" to 23" wide; this one is only 20.8, making it narrower than most. It's probably not suited for teens or adults for this reason. I just received this and I was going to wait until I could put it through its paces before writing a review, but the issues of the weight rating and width deserve immediate attention so I will provide an interim report. Three stars for now because of these issues; otherwise it appears to be a fully-functioning hoverboard. The instructions are not very complete and I will need to figure out some features on my own. I plugged in the charger and a few hours later I had a green light. I put the hoverboard on the floor and pressed the power button, and one pad lit up green. I determined that the lit pad is for the left foot, because when mounting the other lights come on with white in the front and red in the rear. This being my first experience with a hoverboard, I took it slow. The action is very smooth and easily controlled at low speeds. I did this inside the house so I can't comment yet on handling at full speed or hill-climbing ability. The instructions indicate that there are three modes and tells how to change them, but does not explain them other than calling them "safe", "beginner" and "sports".

The media could not be loaded. My son hopped right on took off. We had a hoverboard a year ago and it finally died. This one is very similar in how it's controlled. I like that this one does not overdo it with lots of annoying lights and sounds. Simple white lights in the front and red in the back. I love that! I'll update the review as I have more miles on it. Other hoverboards have died in less than a year which is pretty disappointing for the kids. If I have any issues going forward, you'll hear about it!
