I am by far not a professional hairdresser. That being said, I do trim my husbands, mine and my dogs hair. These cutting shears and hair thinner shears are , in my opinion, great for a novice. I am better at cutting my dogs hair than my own but I can say that I think I did a good job. The shears gave me more confidence. They are sharp and precise and felt good in my hand. The rubber inserts for the finger holes made it too tight for my thumb so I took that one out. The thinning shears worked great on my dogs faces. Yorkies get long bangs and the thinning shears made it blend so much better than the straight cut I normally do. It is so much cheaper for me to groom them and it gives me practice for humans. The dogs don’t care if I mess up. I didn’t try the straight razor because it seemed cheaply made and I was afraid I would slip and have a blood bath to clean. My husband was happy I decided not to use him as a learning tool. All in all, this set is great for a novice to learn. Take care of the shears and I believe they will last a long time. The price is a lot cheaper than monthly dog grooming.

This is a good set of hair cutting scissors. I’m not a professional, but I cut my husband’s hair regularly. I currently own a pair of scissors and thinning shears. This set works about the same, and is slightly lighter in weight than my old set. The finger grips are more comfortable on this set and fit my hands better. These thinning shears seemed to have removed a larger quantity of hair than my others, which made my husband nervous. Haha. Both scissors are very sharp and cut very smoothly as expected. I’ve never used a straight razor before and tested it on his whiskers. It wasn’t cutting easily, so I stopped and tried it on the hair at the back of his neck. The straight razor worked great in that area. I removed a star for two reasons. At the time of this review, the listing says the kit comes with a cleaning cloth. Mine didn’t have the cloth. Which isn’t a huge problem, but if it’s advertised as being included, it should be there. The second reason is that, while I like the carrying case, I don’t like how the straight razor and the brown envelope just sit pressing tightly on top of the scissors. Depending on exactly how I have them placed, I couldn’t get the case to close. Again, not a big deal for me, but it seems like those items are an afterthought and not originally meant to be with this kit.

This is a professional-grade haircutting scissor set. The scissors feel very strong and heavy, and each side is made of a solid piece of metal. This means the blade will not detach from the handle, giving you great confidence while cutting hair. The scissors are very sharp, giving a very smooth cut. I like how the very tip of the scissors is not sharp because I won't accidentally cut myself or whose hair I am cutting. The case has a smooth zipper, and the scissors fit well, but the shaving razor makes it a bit full. I feel like the razor should not be in here. Speaking of the razor. It has a completely different feel from the scissors. It is a plastic handle and blade holder (the silver half of the shaver). The blade itself is extremely sharp and is inside the silver half. I shaved with it, and it did not instill a sense of confidence in me. I got a decent shave from it, but nothing to brag about. I think this shaving blade should be upgraded to match the quality of the scissors, or remove it from the package. It feels cheap and like an afterthought. I have not lowered my star rating because this is a product advertised as scissors, and I think the shaver is a free gift. The Scissors are superb!

I came across this set of regular cutting shears and the thinning shears, and honestly, they’ve made a huge difference in how my haircuts turn out at home. The cutting shears are super sharp and glide through hair easily…no tugging or fraying like the cheap scissors I used before. Perfect for trims, bangs, and keeping my ends healthy. The thinning shears took a little practice, but now I love them for softening layers and taking some weight out of my thick hair. They don’t cut length, just lighten everything up so it feels less bulky. I learned the hard way not to overdo it, but when used sparingly, they definitely make the cut look more natural and professional. This set also includes a straight razor, a storage case, plastic rings to put in the finger holes if needed, and a comb. Pros: Sharp, smooth cut Great for both trimming and blending Professional feel at home Good for thick hair Cons: Thinning shears take practice Overall, I’d definitely recommend getting this set if you want salon-quality results at home. They’re pretty affordable; and quality materials were used to make this whole set! I love the case that it comes with because it makes it super easy to store, and keeps the blades from getting damaged. Also, this kit is very affordable, and amazing quality!!
