Overall a great item to add to an emergency preparedness, and even better it retains the form factor and accessory compatibility of many other radios. My old pouches and PTT cables worked just fine with this new Maxtalker radio. The new hand mic has a nice feel to it and worked flawlessly, with no need to jiggle the button to get it to transmit. Also new in this kit, they’ve done away with the bulky charging docks and included smaller chargers with USB-C cords. (You can still use a charging dock if you want). I prefer USB-C anyway, it makes for less cords to manage, and I can charge from a solar panel on the go.

The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using this pair for a bit, and they’ve really impressed me. The power output is strong — I can hit repeaters my old handhelds couldn’t, and the reception’s been clear every time. For the price, the extra range is a big plus. The kit comes loaded: two radios, multiple antennas, speaker mics, and a programming cable. Having the cable makes setup with CHIRP a breeze, and the included mics sound better than most budget ones. USB-C charging is a great upgrade — I can charge anywhere without a dock. Battery life easily lasts a full day of normal use. Build quality feels solid, and while they’re not waterproof, the controls are responsive and the long antennas boost performance. Their size makes them easy to take on the go, when comdined with the USB-C charging, they really are a great portable option. All around, this two-pack is an awesome value. I picked these up recently and I’m honestly impressed with how easy they are to use. The size is just right – not too bulky, but still solid in the hand. The sound is clear, and the range is much better than I expected. What I really like is that these radios are set up so even someone who’s never used one before can figure it out. You just turn the knob to your channel, press the button to talk, and release it to listen – that’s it. They use simple radio frequencies, so you and your group can stay in touch even if cell service drops out. The rechargeable batteries last quite a while, and the charging dock makes topping them up quick and convenient. Halloween is coming up, and these are going to be great for keeping in touch with family while out trick-or-treating. Instead of shouting down the block or relying on spotty service, we can stay connected instantly. Overall, they work exactly as described and are well worth it for anyone who wants a reliable, straightforward way to communicate.
