Worth every penny to simplify the process of film changing and the tension is perfect every single time. The film it comes with has better light transmittance (95%) than the stock FEP (92%) and releases very smooth with the high and consistent tension. Their time difference video is accurate. You can easily change films in under 2 minutes.

Beware of this vat and its proprietary film. I had to replace my entire Saturn 3 after 4 prints when I switched. I noticed a tiny stress mark in the included film. Didn’t seem to go through so I assembled it. Heeded the warnings to make sure you remove both sides of the protection on the film. I made sure to snap opposite sides at the same time so the tension would be even. Everything looked okay. First print, no issues. Same with the second. On my third print using this vat I redid a slice that I usually print with no issues. Everything outside of the fresnel lens did not print and left solid resin in the vat. I noticed some leaks below. From the edges of the vat I had a considerable amount of resin. When I replaced the film and cleaned everything, I noticed that the areas surrounding the holes in the film were stretched out. Reluctantly I replaced the film and did another print. This time, I left the print alone and returned to another huge mess of resin. Everything on the Y axis printed solid if the slice had any of the model or supports in the X axis bisecting that area. Parts of the print outside the radius of the fresnel lens did not print at all; instead leaving more solid resin in my vat. I once again cleaned everything up and then dismantled my printer. Again, the holes for the film were overstretched. An exposure test showed the LCD was no longer working. The LCD had a circle of missing pixels aligning with the border of the fresnel lens and outside of it where my print failed. Upon removal, I found more cured resin on the acrylic piece that included the lens. I’ve had my Saturn 3 for almost 2 years with no issues like this. After a long email exchange with elegoo, I found out that shipping a replacement fresnel lens to the US was going to cost over $40 plus “duties” that could not be included with the estimate. It would also take 2-3 weeks. Adding in the labor and LCD, I figured I was looking at $150+labor and 3 weeks of having to turn down commissions. Within that time I did have to refuse $300 in CAD commissions because I didn’t have a working printer. At this time I noticed the Saturn 3 was on sale for $270. so I bought it so I wouldn’t continue to lose business. Despite the amount I paid for this vat and the film I will never touch it again.

Works great on my elegoo Saturn ultra 16k. However it's got some down sides with this printer. First the temp reporting is slow, not sure if it's a bad thermistor or what. Only ever went up to 34c which is safe but over the normal 30c. Also when putting the tray back in I was lazy and dragged the contacts over the points and it sparked. That is dangerous in a hobby with ipa being used. Now all that said I'm going to keep using it, I've had no failures or leaks from it and changing the fep out is super fast. Also feels like it's built to last which is nice, had a textured feeling metal. Just do read and follow the directions. This hobby is often about following directions.

Ok, I already hate replacing the FEP film on vats. It's extremely tedious and something you have to get done right the first time. With Elegoo vats you can't get the film tight right in the frame because of how the frame bolts into the vat. So initially install it with just enough looseness to make sure it'll stretch correctly into the vat. Neat. This thing? SKIP ALL THAT MESS. Just pull off the protective film, lip up the latches, replace, latch it back. Boom. Done. Saved yourself a minimum of 30 minutes of insanity loss and dread. I just really hope they come out with one for the Mars so I can have both of them with the Hoopat system so when the tears inevitably happens or it starts getting too worn I'm not putting it off because of the time and effort it takes.
