  • Very handy way to start your seeds inside. Very high sprouting rate.
These are a great option to using seed-starter mix in plastic trays. If you time your planting correctly, you can put your seedlings out in a cold frame and get a good head start. Sprouting rate is very high. Transplanting is a cinch whether to bigger pots or direct to garden. Use a tray filled with water to allow the peat pots to soak and expand properly, then they should be all set. ... show more

  • Great product!
Just starting to use them? Loved how easy it was to grow seeds in their pod!

  • Good products
Containers are good seed starters, I like that they are thin so it makes them easy to transplant without damaging roots. Pods are good too, just let them soak all the way.

  • Swell up to 2” high absorbing moisture. No instructions. I’ll instruct you.
I absolutely loved the concept of these jiffy Pot Discs. Since there were no instructions, I put an inch of potting soil into a Sam’s Club clear croissant clam shell container, approx. 18” X 12”, watered down the potting mix really well until it was not water resistant anymore. I placed the Jiffy Discs in lines like tin soldiers. I placed a hardy ageratum flower seed in the little indention atop each disc. Here I should have sprinkled a little bit of“Miracle Gro Seed Starting Potting Soil Mix” like 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon atop the seed in the indention. The “seedling starting mix” is run through a finer screen so this soil has no odd-sized larger pieces to weigh down the seed from sprouting. Whereupon I would snap the top shut, checked it every day, and opened it as necessary to decrease heat and excess condensation as needed and waited for the Georgia heat to build up in the little “greenhouse” I had repurposed. Oh no! Torrential downpour on my back porch! Amazingly, the big Croissant clamshell did NOT allow a single drop of that deluge in to swamp my project. Who knew that makeshift container would be watertight? After a couple days or so, the discs worked their magic and swelled to 2” vertically, while maintaining the same Disc width. I have since covered each hardy ageratum seed as should have been done from the start. We’re checking daily heat levels and moisture in case the heat build up of condensation does not provide the necessary amount of water and awaiting germination of the seeds. Maybe this narrative will serve as a sort of primer as to pitfalls on the road to successful seed germination with the Jiffy Pot Discs. ... show more

  • TINY peat pots!
TOO SMALL!! I wasn't careful enough, had NO IDEA these came in more than one size, millimeters mean nothing to me.

  • Great to start seeds
I ordered to start wildflower seeds. Order arrived fast, just what I needed. Quality as described, good for seed growth.

  • This product is costing me more money than I spent buying it
I don’t generally leave a bad review on anything, but honestly I am kind of livid with this product. I’m not sure if it’s the pH or what, but I’ve used similar products in the past with zero issues. I’m growing 120 hot peppers plants from seeds and legitimately each seed planted in the 50 peat pellets I ordered and zero have germinated or sprouted. Meanwhile the other 70 seeds that were planted in a similar but different peat pellets have all sprouted and are growing well after 3 weeks. I’ve checked every other variable and the common thread are these pellets and it’s honestly infuriating because it now pushes back half of my grow season. ... show more
