Using this for additional moisture/humidity in my hermit crabs tank. Works great! Holds moisture well, does not mold and has really help the humidity level increase to a safe level. (During colder, dryer months, this is more difficult, but the moss was a simple addition to correct the problem).

This sphagnum moss is alright. It's not the worst out there. It's pretty good for the price. I didn't find any additives in it but there was quiet a lot of dirt. After soaking it for use, it turns a dingy brown color and has a very pungent smell. Not bad necessarily, but not as pleasant as other brands, say Spagmoss. I used this for carnivorous plants and it needed a few rinses to get the ppm low enough. After rinsing with distilled water, it brought the ppm to 186.This stuff is the difference between $35 per 12L compared with the $13 I paid for this. ... show more
