It was very hard to put together for one grandchildren age 7 and a great grandmother age 80. I think they worked on and off for 4 or 5 days putting this doll together. Not easy.

    • Love, but a little difficult to cut
I absolutely loved these little dolls. I will admit that cutting scales out of that material was killing my wrist, and took waaaaay too much time, which is why I did not give a total five stars. I did not use the adhesives that came in the kit. I used a hot glue gun and the dolls seem to be holding up pretty well on day three now, one of them being handled by a four year old. They turned out super cute over all, even though they took us 4 hours to complete (mostly from the cutting of all the pieces and I had two kits ;) ) but we loved them enough that we ordered the fairy and princess kits as well. Hopefully they don't have quite as many pieces to cut. ... show more

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter to do over quarantine. Great quality and a good price. One thing is, you had to tape and glue everything on. My daughter instead lightly hot glued most of the scales on and that worked great. Also, the fabric was a little slippery for her to cut, so she just taped the stencil on the fabric and then cut it out. She loves it! It came out so adorable and i would recommend it!!! ... show more

The idea of this doll making kit is nice, but not practical. My daughter was all into mermaids for her birthday so I picked this project up for her as she likes crafts. All the materials are nice and instructions are clear. However, everything goes on with double sided tape. This is not a doll that they can play with after it is put together because it all falls apart. The hair has surprisingly stayed on the longest, but all the scales came off within a day. Not a good project and disappointed with the outcome. Does make a cute doll, but again only looks like a mermaid because of tape. Giving it 3 stars because if you want to take more time with it you could handstitch the fabric on and have a nice project, but would require more adult help. ... show more

My 10 year old had fun with this. Completed in about 1.5 hour, with little to no help. I would suggest using a better glue or hot glue gun, for the mermaid tail. This is a great gift idea. Shipping was fast!

    • Made for a single woman in her 30’s who can assemble in peace
0/10 recommend this for a child with a stay at home mom who is surround by small child while helping the oldest assemble this birthday present. More realistic for a single woman who can sit alone at night and be tortured by the tedious process in peace and quiet. Age 8+ is not accurate for assembly. This was horrible to put together with my 6 year old. The only thing a child would be able to do is put the beads on the string and draw the face in. Cutting all the layers of scales was complicated. And the worst part is the double sided tape use to hold everything on. Nearly impossible to get both sides off the tape, and the tape does not hold well. ... show more
