    • Great camera, a few flaws that were overcome
As stated in other reviews, the packaging and product are top notch. The camera is easy to use. Set up is pretty easy, but it took me about an hour to set up hard wire kit, and another hour to wire the backup camera reverse sensor. I ended up mounting the rear camera inside my car. A few notes that you might find useful: 1. The GPS unit I received was defective (short in the usb connector). I could apply a bit of pressure to the plug and the satellite icon would appear on the mirror, but disappear when releasing pressure. I contacted support and they send a new one which worked great! GPS adds mph and lat/long coordinates to bottom left of videos below the time stamp. The satellite icon turns blue when driving, indicating it's working. It should be mounted to the windshield up high with the double-stick tape. 2. I strongly recommend a hard wire kit as the unit tends to forget the time after a few hours without constant power. I contacted the company about this, and they are making a new unit estimated for mid-March 2022 that will resolve this defect. I found if I used the included lighter adapter the camera would remember the time for a few hours, but not overnight, meaning you have to reset the time every morning. Since the timestamp will be incorrect on your videos and their filenames, this is a bit of hassle/deal breaker. The company sent me a hardwire kit for free to correct this defect, but they cost less than $20. 3. A bonus for using the hard wire kit is the parking monitor will be enabled after turning on the key and set the parking mode. It was not clear that you have to turn on the key to acc to set the parking mode after wiring it up (ACC wire to cigarette lighter, B+ wire to a fuse with constant power or radio - look up your car's fuses online). You'll know you are successful when the letter P appears on the mirror. At that point, make sure your G-shock setting is set to medium or high, otherwise it won't be sensitive enough to register an impact to your car. I wouldn't recommend G-shock of low, which requires a good whack to the unit to trigger urgent 20-second recording. 4. The rear camera backup sensor wire is optional and automatically switches your view to the rear camera with backup guide lines, centered on the camera's view when in reverse. For example, if you have set the rear camera with the view joystick to be higher or lower than center, during reverse it will temporarily move that view back to center with the guidelines. This is good since the guidelines will always be in the same position relative to your car, but since I had mounted my camera high on my hatchback, the closest "STOP" guideline is actually about 5' behind my bumper. Not a big deal, but if you want the guidelines to be closer aligned I'd mount the rear camera near the license plate or align the center of view where you want first. Please note I consider this feature a bonus since you can just as easily use the reverse camera without it, and you will save time not having to wire into your backup lamp. I wanted to try out all the features. 5. The app is OK. You have to connect your phone to the camera with it's onboard wifi, then you can download the videos/photos to the app and export to your phones photo app. Downloading a 1 minute 4k clip took a few minutes over the included wifi, so if you want to download the videos faster I recommend taking out the SD card and copying to a computer. 6. The included 64GB card is good for 4 to 5 hours of video before looping and recording over. Nice! If the company sends me a replacement unit for the clock defect, I will update my review for the new model. ... show more

    • Some design problems, customer service totally unresponsive
The cameras works well but the backup function only turns on the grid lines. Worthless. You can't just use the mirror for a true backup camera. The option to disable the screen, using the mirror as a mirror is set up as a screen saver only. So the quickest you can turn off the mirror screen is 1 minute. And again when you have the backup lead connected and you put it in reverse, nothing happens if the screen is off???? Worthless backup function. Touching the screen will enable it unless it's already in reverse, odd again. But you still have to wait till the screen saver turns it off. Also on mine, when in reverse, the grid lines flicker. But I have a 30 ft extension cable which may be adding noise to the cable or the cable may not be truly designed for the camera. When I sent a question to customer service, no reply. As seems to be a common problem with Chinese products/support , it can be hit and miss. Recommend not buying this product unless it gets really cheap. ... show more

    • Missing required feature to lock previous 2mins of video.
This device is missing a required feature to lock videos after a car crash. The current lock button only locks fifteen seconds after the button is pressed. This defeats the purpose of locking the previous 2 mins of video, leading up to the crash which is what owners need to provide footage to police. ... show more

    • Does the job as full time rear camera
Unit was purchased as full time review camera for camper van. Van has a rearview mirror and two small rear windows, but view was often obstructed with gear. Rear camera placed on inside back window of the van completly solves the problem. It is a wide angle camera, so it allows viewing not just directly behind, but lanes on either side, as well. The wide angle does mean that "objects in mirror are closer than they appear", so one must take that into account. Other nice features: - Cigarette ligher dc adapter has USB charge port - Auto bightness does a good job of adjusting to different lighting conditions, including night time - Menu system is intuitive and easy to use - Don't use the front camera or recording, so can't comment on that, but suppose it may come in handy if ever in an accident and need to prove I'm not at fault Things that aren't perfect: - Screen on first unit purchased would not always start up when car was started. Sometimes it wouldn't start til the next day. But, Amazon made it so easy to return (within 30 days), I didn't even take off a star. 2nd unit has worked without problem, so far. - Could not fit rear camera to verrical rear window of van without modifying mount. Was fairly simple to remove mount and reposition using same screws. - Wish rear camera was same resolution as forward camera, but its good enough. - Wish I could disable date/time stamp display on screen. I'd rather be able to see the whole image. All and all, its a great safety improvment and I'm quite happy with the purchase. ... show more
