When I ordered this night vision binocular, I was curious to see how well it actually worked for night viewing, as most IR/Night Vision binoculars are pretty expensive items. I'l have to say I'm pretty impressed! It has a standard viewing mode, what appears to be a starlight mode, and an IR mode, with some brightness variation in the IR mode. It does have an 8X zoom, although it didn't seem to have as much of a "zoom" effect as I was expecting. It is pretty amazing how well you can see animals, people, etc on a dark night with this unit (great way for me to keep track of my largely black dog when she's out at night). I guess the one downside is that after looking at a fairly bright IR screen, you lose some of your night vision, but you can see a lot more with this. The right side "lens" at the front of the binocular is actually the infrared emitter; the left side (when viewed from behind the unit) is the viewing port, and it has a ring that can be turned to focus the image. The flashlight is integrated into the top of the housing, just behind the front lenses, and can produce either a steady beam or a flashing beam. It seemed sort of over the top, but it's a nice-to-have item. On the left side of the binoculars is a covered port that you can lift up for access to the charge port, and the micro SD slot. It was cool to see that the micro SD card was included with the binocular. I just took a couple of photos to try it out, as I primarily wanted this unit to see critters in the dark, but it's a neat feature and great that you don't have to buy a card to use it. As a side note, the instructions recommend formatting the Micro SD card before using, but they don't tell you how. Go into the menu mode and scroll down until close to the bottom of the options. There you'll see the option to format the card. In the menu you'll also find a number of cool options for setting up the unit and the photo/video side of things. When plugging in the included USB charge cord initially, a "charging battery" image came up on the screen, but it went away shortly. There is a small light by the charge port, however, that glows red as the unit charges, changing to green when the charge is finished. The housing is plastic, but it seems robust enough for normal use (just don't pound tent pegs with it!), and it keeps the binocular comfortably light. Also included in the kit is a lanyard. The binocular features a tapped hole on the bottom for a tripod mount, should you want to keep it more stable for better photos and viewing. I should note that it comes in a pretty nice case as well. Ergonomically, this unit seems to be well thought out, as it was comfortable to hold, and the buttons were easily accessible. It's a great way to "open up the night".

I am impressed by the quality of these night vision goggles, (monocular) especially in this price range. These are not really designed for daytime use, and if you use the IR function in daylight it gives you a grainy black and white view that eats up your battery charge. Any set of decent regular binoculars will give you far better magnification and precise focus at greater distances for daylight use anyway. At night though, these goggles come alive! There is a low light mode which gathers any available ambient light and produces a color picture through the viewfinder, and three IR modes of different intensity and for me at least clarity. It comes in a very solid cardboard box, and includes a rugged nylon covered, zippered, plastic case that contains the goggles, instructions, cleaning cloth, USB cable, 32 MB SD card, and neck strap. I haven't had a need for the built in flashlight, but it might come in handy when camping or walking in the woods at night. It comes with a threaded tripod receiver on bottom, and I use a small camera tripod that allows me to easily pick it up and scan around, then set it down for a stable focus and clearer picture. It's nice that you can capture photos of what you're seeing and view them in the device, or take out the card and transfer them to another device for viewing or printing. However, I doubt the claim of 2000 feet viewable distance is accurate. My home is surrounded by woods, with the treeline about 30ft. away across my front lawn, but I have a large back yard. The trees in back are about 400 ft. away, And I have a hard time getting anything nicely focused on that distance no matter what mode I try. Regardless of that these are super cool, I have seen all kinds of wildlife with these, including a bear, deer, coyotes, even a possum! Take your time, read the instructions thoroughly and play around with the buttons and different settings and you will become familiar with what works best for you around your house. You won't regret buying these!

I handed this over to my oldest nephew to check out and he loves it. This isn't REALLY a night vision binocular, but more of a hyped up IR setting like you have on a security camera. It takes pictures and works well enough for the kids to be absolutely fascinated by it. Good purchase for some fun around camp or out in the yard at night with the kids.

Woah this is an amazing gadget! I expected this would work well but it has blown my expectations out of the water. The visual quality through these is phenomenal, they’re like really high quality binoculars but they can also see anything and everything at night, even in pitch black darkness. I live in a very rural area against a huge unpopulated national park, and these have been great for investigating sounds in the woods at night. Sometimes we hear rustling and it’s nothing, just birds or raccoons. But sometimes it’s bears or coyotes and we like to get our cats inside just in case. These have been fun to take camping as well, and help put the mind at ease when one is feeling a bit nervous in the dark woods.
