I'm a Girl Scout troop leader, and our girls LOVE doing crafts. They're especially creative and enjoy painting. This package of brushes was PERFECT. There are loads of brushes so we don't constantly have to be washing brushes to change colors. They're durable enough to withstand elementary-age novice painters, and clean up easily. At the same time, they look and feel like high-quality paint brushes and work equally well in tempera or watercolor paints for our girls. They've been a great addition to our craft arsenal on a very tight budget, and are holding up well to near-constant use on our crafting days. SUPER happy with this package!

They come packaged in sets of 4 and are color coded. There is a flat style, and a round, but they're pretty similar in size, so they're probably interchangeable for most jobs. They're a nice medium size for quick coverage of small objects, but not really suitable for fine detailed artwork. I just used these to paint some quarter-round molding in my kitchen, and even a 1" wide brush seemed too wide, so I like the size of these. The bristles are fairly rigid, so good for dabbing into crevices, and they are a bit softer and easier to load, and give more consistent coverage than some of the super cheap black hard shiny bristles I usually find. None of the brushes I looked at had loose ferrules and the bristles didn't fall out easily to be left stuck in the paint, which is quite a nuisance. I'm really happy with them and probably have a lifetime supply for a good price. Thank you very much.

These are some basic classroom brushes that can work well for younger children, or for craft use in rougher application of glues or other surface treatments. For a class of younger children, this is a great choice. These brushes come in packages of four brushes in a basic assortment of red, blue yellow, and green. This makes it easy to distribute without the inevitable challenges of a child being upset that someone else got the last one of a brush color that they wanted. The handles are made of a resilient plastic that doesn’t easily break, splinter, or chip. The bristles are pretty firm, and can handle some less than gentle use. Best of all, when used with basic tempera, acrylics or other general classroom paints, these can be cleaned with soap and water for re-use afterwards. Now one thing to be aware of is that when working with much thicker mediums, there will be some shedding of bristles. I decided to give one of these are particularly challenging test and used it to apply a mixture of acrylic modeling paste and paint to a surface. In doing this, I noticed that it did leave a few bristles behind. That said, I was impressed that I was able to clean this same brush quite effectively afterwards, as I had made sure to begin cleaning it before the mixture had entirely dried. The header on the product page for this item lists them being used for oil paint, which I am rather skeptical about. I don’t see many folks wanting to introduce small children to the joys of oil painting, and I can’t imagine too many adult oil painters thinking that these are the tools they need for their next portrait painting. I can’t say what the overall lifespan of one of these brushes is, but that is why it is fortunate that they come in a good quantity at a reasonable price at less than 50 cents per brush. If you can make sure that these are not mistreated and are cleaned in a timely fashion, then these can be a good value for classroom use.
