I got this today, and took an hour to set it up (I am very deliberate about setting things up). When I got it all set up I ran some 4x4 cedar pieces across it so I can glue them up to make a large vase on my lathe. This thing works like a dream! It is quiet, the table tops were perfectly aligned when I set it up, and running the boards across it was easy, easy, easy. Somebody else mentioned feeling suction lifting the wood off the table, I also noted suction when I put two planed faces together. I have used a planer before to make the faces smooth, but it does not make them perfectly flat. I do not love this jointer as much as my lathe, but it is a close second. ... show more

    • Big improvement and a solid machine

I'll update this after some time. Just got it out of a box and the packing is very good . It is heavy but manageable once it's all unpacked. The 10-in version is a major Improvement over my 6-in aluminum top cheap-o. A spiral Cutters take such light cuts individually , and the reduced friction from the cast iron, make it super smooth to push a board. And it came out totally flat. I'm very happy. Plan to build the flat Wing extensions next. The extension bars are okay and they are in line, but I want a nice smooth surface so adding melamine overlays. There's a YouTube video all about this. Fence was perfectly square right out of the box and is very sturdy. It's not very tall but I don't think I've got the room to add the cast iron fence. We'll see how that goes ... show more

This review is for the 10 inch model. I went back and forth trying to decide on a jointer. Many of the bench top jointers are made in the same factory but my understanding is this brand is the brand sold by the factory owner itself. This may result in more oversight of production as well as more responsive service. I decided on the CUTech for superior quality control and customer service and on both accounts it has met my expectations. I’ve contacted Cutech twice. Once because I missed a promo for a discount on the upgraded cast iron fence. Within a couple hours of my email I received a response offering the missed promo. The second time was during assembly. Step one says to use the screw preinstalled but there weren’t any such screws. I called the phone number on the assembly instructions and after two rings a real human answered! It turns out the screws in question had a habit of releasing during shipping so now they package them separately in the small cardboard box with other components. The person I spoke with was professional and knew exactly what I needed. As far as the jointer working as a jointer: it was dialed in from the factory although I checked everything before use. The table and the table extensions are solid and aligned. I first tested with some scrap soft wood and then with a variety of hardwoods. You can tell the hardwood makes the motor work harder but I had no problem taking off 1/32 at a time even with a 10 inch wide board. Dust collection is above average. It is not quiet but it isn’t the loudest machine in my shop. For a bench top unit it is heavy but that is a plus when you’re using a potentially dangerous machine: you need stability. I bought the fence upgrade but I have not installed it yet as I want to see how the aluminum one works so I better compare in order to assess if the upgrade is worth it. In sum, for a hobbyist this is about as good of a jointer you can get without buying more machine than you need. While there are less expensive machines this was worth the money especially to get something larger than a 6” or 8” machine. ... show more

    • Amazing quality and capacity for the price

This post reviews the Cutech 10-inch jointer. A jointer was the last piece of equipment I needed for my shop. I had been getting by using a sled and shims on my thickness planer to face-level boards. Having a dedicated jointer has made all the difference and motivates me to ensure each piece of material, even the smallest one, is flat, square, and parallel. The powerful jointer does quick and clean work. When I compared the various Cutech and related benchtop jointers, the 10-inch one stood out because it had a comparable footprint to the 8-inch jointers, yet a larger cutting capacity. I could not find any other 10-inch benchtop jointer I could live with. The larger surface has proved invaluable because it allows me to use it for fairly wide stock, such as drawer panels and boxes. When necessary, for very large pieces, I can joint 10-inch boards that I later make into larger panels. The 10-inch capacity is usually enough for most of my needs. Consumers should know that Cutech is owned by Shinmax, a Taiwanese company. Wahuda makes a similar jointer based on the same design. Shinmax sued Wahuda in 2020 for patent infringement in LA federal court after their earlier relationship soured. However, the two companies worked it out in a 2021 settlement and Wahuda (out of Tennessee) was allowed to continue making similar jointers. There are a few interesting differences though. The Cutech has some braces for the jointer fence, which the Wahuda lacks at present. Those supports keep the jointer’s aluminum fence firmly fixed in place. Cutech introduced this designed recently after some customers complained of fence movement. The Cutech has two-sided cutters rather than 4-sided ones, which Cutech says prevents the cutters from spinning out of place during use (the non-cutting edge locks the cutter in place). When worn, the cutters can be rotated once to a fresh blade. Wahuda offers 4-sided cutters claiming they provide longer service because you have twice the cutting capacity of the Cutech and can rotate the cutters more times when worn. I had also considered the Jet 6-inch jointer with the true helical head (the Cutech/Wahuda jointer has a spiral but not helical head). The Jet also has an iron fence (the Cutech/Wahuda has iron tables but an aluminum fence). The Jet is also right around $1000, which is significantly more expensive than the Cutech. In the end, I went with the Cutech because it had the larger cutting capacity, which has proved a huge advantage in my shop. The footprint was not much bigger than the Jet’s smaller jointer, and the fence supports have done a great job keeping the fence properly squared. I decided the fence supports on the Cutech made it superior to the Wahuda, given that earlier buyers had complained about the fence moving a bit before Cutech introduced the fence supports. Well i just got it a month or so ago and now I'm putting it together and building a table for it. After unboxing it iI found the assemble to be relatively simple. The setup is also easy because all setting & adjustment are done at the factory and nothing was really required by me. So gar I'm very pleased and impressed with the 10" Cutech jointer. Pretty simple assembly. I also purchased the cast iron fence. Sturdy with the fence re-enforcement. Elevation on the outfeed is perfect to the cutterhead. Co-planner may be ever so slightly of but I did not have my feeler gauges to confirm. If it is off it certainly is not off enough to fuse about and likely make it worse. Did two test cuts in 6” wide red oak and I was like son of a gun this thing rocks. Very impressed and happy. UPDATE: March 2, 2026… I have been running 6” riff sawn 6’ long white oak through the machine and it is works wickedly well. One of the best purchases I have made. ... show more

Great jointer. Had a 6 inch Ridgid jointer for years and it was pretty good. This machine, even being a bench top model, is much better, with regards to the quality of the cutters. Cuts great, square up edges, and face joint with no problem. The table extensions really help. I edge jointed 81.5 inch 2.5 inch wide boards today. All went well. Powerful motor in there as well. I really like this jointer. It makes smooth cuts, isn't terribly loud and doesn't product much dust outside of the 4/2.5" dust port. The fence is a little tricky to get square but once its there it is solid.
