Pros: magnet works pretty well - we will see how it holds up. rope is good quality. Meh: the purge valve on the storage case is fake and the case is definitely not water tight. woodland home doesn't seem have any online presence outside of amazon. Cons: gloves are thin nitrile coated polyester and while they are comfortable, they only offer minimal protection against sharp objects you might pull up with your magnet - for the price of this kit I was thinking a cheap pair of level 5 cut resistant gloves would be in the kit. the magnet weighs 9.7 pounds and its not something a regular person could throw for hours at a time, there are lighter magnets with comparable pull force for around the same price. the kit is a bit expensive for a non mainstream brand. ... show more

The truth is that this magnet is too heavy to use by hand . My dad plans to drag it behind his boat but we must first find a way to get it there . These can not be air mailed . How do I get one to the Philippines ?

Set was delivered with a damaged case, I contacted woodland home goods and they immediately agreed to send me a new case, the rope and magnet appears to be of very good quality and extremely strong. Very heavy for tossing, would work great for dropping off of boat or bridge, hard to to get good distance from shore. ... show more

The item is as pictured on Amazon’s images. This one is really powerful folks so don’t get your fingers in between it and metal! Also, be careful of getting it stuck on unintentional objects such as lower parts of a METAL bridge! $!@&! You almost need a truck to get it off! Keeping checking your knots on the rope so you don’t lose your magnet on the bottom! I’d buy it again! ... show more

When tossing the magnet does get a little heavy. The rope provided is a multi strand jacketed rope with a good amount of stretch when you klink on to something big. The thickness of both the rope and the magnet help with retrieving and with pushing the creek/river bottom mud out of the way. Every time I go out with it I always get something!
