  • Worth every penny!
The media could not be loaded. Worth every penny. Worked as described in clay soil with a few small rocks. Large rocks got hung up, so I removed them with a digging bar by hand, then continued with the auger. I doubt my cordless drill has enough power to get through the clay, so I used an old industrial quality 1/2" corded drill. The design is better than others I viewed. The point digs right in, and the carbon steel replaceable blades worked well. They broke up smaller rocks, and after digging 6 holes the blades showed no wear or chips. Although it's listed as 24" length, the deepest I got was 21", and that was with my power drill partly in the hole after clearing dirt away. Regardless, it was perfect for my post-setting project. ... show more

  • Good Auger and Quality
Good auger and quality but seems a bit heavy for a regular drill. Recommend using something bigger or maybe a milwaukee fuel drill.

  • It really digs through the packed dirt.
It worked great, it’s not going to work like a full size gas powered one but it dug through the dirt just fine. I would buy it again.

  • Very Good Quality - Heavy Duty
The media could not be loaded. This is a review for: "4"x24" Auger Drill Bit for Planting – Heavy Duty Garden Auger Post Hole Digger with Spiral Double Blade & 3/8" Hex Drive for Fast Hole Drilling" I got this primarily for making quick work of holes for 4x4 posts but it can also be used to make quick holes for planting small flowers or trees. If you're needing to make a bigger hole you can drill several outlying holes around the perimeter for a starting point with less actual digging. The small hole this makes which is just big enough for a 4x4 post is perfect for adding cement around the post keeping the foot print small and making a more sturdy hole with less disruption of the dirt surrounding the hole. This auger is large and feels as though it was meant for something larger but has a 3/8" hex shaft welded to the larger tube. It isnt too heavy but is pretty light. That being said I wouldn't recommend using this with a 3/8" cordless drill. I would suggest a 1/2" hammer drill or a corded 1/2" drill for this auger bit. My DeWalt 1/2" Hammer drill with 8aH battery had zero issue turning this. My drill is model DCD998 which has a torque rating of 1825 in-lbs, which is equivalent to approximately 152 ft-lbs. It is important to realize that not just any battery operated drill can handle something like this. A good example is to lookup the torque rating of a cheap equivalent drill and you'll notice that the in-lbs are much much lower at only a fraction of a big named tools. So in other words if you don't already have a high torque capable drill you'll want to stick with a corded drill for this auger bit. The bit itself is orange powder coated with a shiny finish which will deter dirt from sticking to it and make cleanup very easy with minimal brushing. The cutting tips are removable and can be replaced if you are dealing with harder ground which could dull the cutting edges but likely can be ground back sharp a few times before needing replacement. When turning this in my drill digging my first hole I noticed it wasn't completely balanced meaning the hex stud wasn't in line with the shaft exactly true which made it wobble and that caused my control of the trigger to shake a bit resulting in uneven speed which then made dirt fling out of the hole into my shoes. So be aware of that if you are away from home using this or wear better protection with socks and work boots rather than open shoes which is what I prefer to do my yard work in although a water hose quickly remedied that. The shaft is long enough to allow for a deep hole for posts at 24". I would recommend and buy this again! ... show more

  • A Fantastic Light-Duty Garden Hole Digger
This auger is impressively well-built, with solid engineering and good overall fit and finish. The construction feels stout and balanced, and the coating—whether powder coat or paint—appears durable and high quality. Despite some reviews suggesting the need for a 1/2" or commercial-grade drill, I found that my older Ryobi 18V brushed drill (a basic DIY model) was up to the task. I did, however, make sure the soil was moderately moist from sprinkler watering beforehand. Our Southern California soil is largely clay-based, so the auger did bog down at times, but with the right technique and some practice, it performed very well. Sure, a higher-torque drill would handle this more easily, and I agree with others that a drill with a side handle would be ideal for safety and control. Still, I believe even a 12V drill—used slowly, patiently, and in soil that isn’t too rocky or dry—can power this auger effectively. I didn’t drill to full depth out of caution, as I didn’t want to risk hitting buried utility lines, sprinkler pipes, or roots. Always check your dig area carefully—breaking even a PVC sprinkler line can turn a quick job into an afternoon of muddy, kneeling repairs. Bottom line: This auger is a highly recommended addition to your outdoor tool lineup. Be patient, use good technique, and it will serve you well. ... show more

  • Great for digging postholes!
This auger measures 4” × 24". It has a double bladed drill head with a screw tip. It has a spiral flute for quick soil removal. It has a ⅜” hex head drill drive. It is powder coated in orange to prevent rust. This auger is good for either planting or digging postholes. I'd recommend using a 1/2" drill with a side grip. A ⅜” drill won't handle this without damaging the drill. ... show more

  • GREAT Bit For Planting Bulbs!
I ordered this auger/drill bit from Ytmshisan because I have roughly 500 daffodil bulbs being shipped to me for planting, next month. While I haven't started using it as much as I will, I've been trying it out and this bit is VERY nice. It's very well-made, seems durable, fits my drill and the few times that I have tried it, works well and beats using a manual bit to plant bulbs by far. I wshl I had found this gem 20 years ago! Highly Recoomended! Five Stars! ... show more
