I haven't yet run it in the water, but it consistently starts and works as it should every week as I simply start it to make sure it is working, and I am performing engine break-in. I checked the lower unit for oil, and it did come full of a heavy-weight oil, so that's good. One thing: might not be a huge deal, but the engine will not run if I turn off the choke, even if I have run it for 5 minutes and it is fully warm. ... show more

Works as intended, pushes my canoe about 5mph, however after about ten uses the throttle cable snapped in the throttle and I had to repair it. Then a few more uses after that it wouldn’t run and I had to change out the spark plug. It still runs good but build quality is definitely not the best.

It’s difficult to write a review. It started and ran well. However it propelled my 12 foot Craig Cat at about one mile per hour and consumed a tank of gas in less than a mile, on flat water, with no wind. I didn’t expect it to go fast, 3 to 4 mph as advertised would have been good. The motor would probably work well on a boat with a net weight of around 500 pounds, but that’s all. ... show more
