If you are looking for a basic tent for 3 or 4 people, this tent, at around the $56 price point, is pretty good. It's certainly not a hiking tent, more like a pack the car and set-up camp somewhere kind of tent. The dome shape gives plenty of room to move around in. About the tent. I'm pretty good at setting up tents. I've been doing it for years, from the old canvas army tents to the new ultra lightweight hiking tents. Given that I did set this tent up on a really windy day, it still took me a good 45 minutes. The poles kept sliding apart and falling over making it frustrating. Finally, I managed to get the poles to stay in place, once that happened things fell into place quickly. Added extras? A rather large pocket sewn into the side of the tent, and a flap through which you can thread an electric cord to provide power inside the tent. There is also a built-in door mat. There's a hook for hanging a lantern, and a vent flap at the back of the tent to provide extra cross-ventilation. A nice touch is having a large part of the tent being mesh. In good weather you could leave the rain fly off and have a panoramic view of the night sky, or see what kind of critter is staring at you in your tent. Overall, a nice tent. The pegs are pretty sturdy. It's always been my habit to replace pegs when I buy a tent, but that's probably just me. I haven't taken it camping yet - things are still a little too cool in the NorthWest. I did set it up in my backyard. Out of the box, it took me about 15 minutes to set it up by myself. I could have done it faster if I had read the instructions, which are sewed inside the bag, but what's the fun in that? I plan to use it primarily for car camping. It is a little taller than most dome tents. Not tall enough to stand up in, but enough to sit on a stool. We'll probably use it for two people and a dog, and for that it will be very spacious. It will be comfortable for three, but a little crowded for four adults. Still, a good tent for an average family. This tent uses clips instead of sleeves for the poles. I prefer that, because sliding the poles through sleeves is always a pain. There is a loop at the center through which both poles should pass. On the inside, there's a hook at center to hang a light or fan. Like most dome tents, you can move it around after you've set it up, but it should be staked down for stability. Good quality metal stakes are provided, and there are 8 guy lines. With these staked down and tightened, the tent seems to have good wind resistance in spite of it's height. The upper part of the tent is all mesh, and this is well-covered by the rainfly. One interesting feature is a rear vent at the base of the tent. This will allow a "chimney effect" which should keep the tent cooler on sunny days. The total weight is about ten pounds. Although this is heavy for backpacking, it would not be so bad if the weight were divided among 3 or 4 persons. ... show more

This is a great starter tent for most anyone and a perfect tent for backyard camping for your kids. It is easy to set up and the overall construction and materials feel durable. While we got this for our kids to have a little hideaway to run into when they play outside, it is also big enough for adults to have fun with as well. Though, I'm not entirely sure 4 people is the right amount. You would fit them but it would most likely be cramped. Depending how you choose to set it up, (top on or not) it can have plenty of ventilation or plenty of coverage which is really nice. The whole setup before deployment is lightweight and easy to move from place to place which makes it a good travel tent as well. Highly recommend starter tent. ... show more
