The collection of musical instruments for my grandkids needed some choices that will last a longer and look more authentic than the large number of plastic or dollar store variety items. Both the rhythm sticks and the shaker eggs feel completely smooth and fit into preschool and adult hands easily. Very nice for the money. Smooth finish and yes, the wood color is as light as the photo shows. Whatever is used inside the egg shakers has the perfect amount as with a gentle shake, you get just enough noise. These are not overly loud even when shaken hard. The sticks make the sound you would expect when banging two pieces of finished wood together which is pretty much all I can say about that. Also, these say "for kids" but I definitely bought them for myself and they're great. ... show more
