Good quality and price for a 4-pack. They seem more of a flood than a spot even though you can turn the end and adjust it. The beam seems to go only about 18ft at best but does flood an area nicely to see. It is a small pocket light. I am using them to observe if we have bats coming from our roof at our cabin each year to maintain our "no bat" policy. This flashlight is well-made and a valuable accessory for star-gazing in the daek. The push-button switch controls your choice of bright, dim, or strobe red light that compliments your night vision. My only criticism is toward Amazon for over-estimating the delivery date. I don't usually order Amazon items that are needed in a hurry, but I did this one time for a planned event. Paid $12 for 2-day delivery of 20 flashlights. Delivery was a day later than quoted but worked for me only because I allowed an extra day as buffer. Never again! ... show more

Light is effective at night and quite powerful despite their small size and price. We used these on the beach looking for sea turtles and they worked great. No sign of sea turtles though :(

    • Too bright for my indoor purposes but it's as-advertised
I got this to use at night when caring for an incapacitated parent - for myself and for caregivers who help out. They certainly work great, but are actually too bright for indoor use as we are using them. Red light at night is important as it doesn't disrupt melatonin and supports good night vision (your eyes stay dilated), but my parent has yelped when the caregiver inadvertently pointed it at his face -- just way too intense. Not sure what to do to dim them except to let the batteries wear down. Have only had these for a few weeks, so can't comment yet on longevity or battery life. These would be great for outdoor stargazing applications. Also, I don't need the flashing feature...wish it just was a simple light on or off, but the price was right, so we cycle through the flashing part. ... show more

THese are perfect for what we need them for. We vacation where sea turtles nest and while we usually don't use any lights when walking on the beach, a red light is required to do so if a light is needed to walk a path due to laws to protect nesting turtles

They really light up a lot outside and you can see so much more than you see with white light. Save Our Light Environment and I am not usually a promoter of that kind of thing.
