The instructions just mentioned pressing the reset button with the key, but they did not clearly explain that you need to press and hold the reset button while changing the code. Once I figured that out, it only took a couple of minutes and was not a major issue. The locks themselves seem to work well and feel more secure than basic slide-style child locks. I also like that they are adjustable, which makes it easier to fit them on different cabinet handles. Overall, these are a good option if you need something a little more difficult for older kids to figure out while still being straightforward for adults to use daily.

For being a plastic lock, this is very well made and feels like great quality. It’s a nice cabinet lock option to help keep your little ones safe. At first, it was a little confusing to figure out how to set your own code, even with the directions. To change it, you start with the default code set to 000 while it’s unlocked. Then, use the key it comes with on the side and press and hold the gray button while entering your new code. Once you’ve selected the new code, let go, and it should save and work from there. If you can’t figure it out right away, I honestly don’t think most kids would know to try 000, and push the unlock button so you’re safe just change the numbers when you walk away.

I would imagine most people buy these cabinet locks for baby proofing, but we needed them for puppy proofing. We could not believe it when our pup started opening the cabinets. I still have no idea how he figured it out, but he did, and suddenly we had to get creative fast. My husband was temporarily using thin rope to keep him out of certain cabinets until these arrived, and these locks are definitely a much better solution. They are easy to place on the cabinets we do not access as often, and they keep everything securely closed without looking too bulky or awkward. The adjustable U-shaped design works well on our cabinet handles, and the black color blends in nicely. Most importantly, they are doing exactly what we needed them to do: keeping our curious pup out of places he should not be and helping keep him safe. A practical, helpful little fix.

I have a kiddo with no self control when it comes to food. So this helps me limit access to certain foods that my child is more prone to binge on. I was originally using two loop locks but having just one, and it being white like our pantry, makes it more convenient and less noticeable. Locking it in place correctly to be able to move the dials for the combination can be tricky at times, but isnt overly irritating. The plastic isnt solid so if someone wanted to they could easily break it off. While i wouldnt recommend using to keep valuables protected, its good as a simple deterrent.
