These are great lumbar crayons. I have never tried the Dixon lumbar crayon, but I can state my experience with these lumbar crayons. This crayon is most definitely harder and larger than your typical crayon. This lumbar crayon writes well on all rough surfaces and leaves a mark which is very difficult to erase. I’ve seen someone sharpen a crayon by lighting a fire under the crayon. The crayon then melts and one can form a point. I held a flame under this crayon for about 20 to 30 seconds. This lumber crayon did not melt. I then almost burnt myself while touching the tip of the crayon, and found the tip extremely soft. I molded the tip into a point and stuck the crayon into the freezer to harden. Because this crayon didn’t melt while a flame was nearly touching it, means this lumbar crayon is extremely heat resistant. A typical crayon melts within a second or two of the flame getting near the crayon. I was hoping to write on glass with this crayon, yet writing on glass takes a much softer crayon, and this crayon does not write on glass. Although I cannot compare this crayon to the Dixon crayon. Based on what I could see, this lumbar crayon is a superb lumbar crayon.

The media could not be loaded. I survey and use this stuff daily for drawing on curb and roadway. These are slightly soft but not enough to bother me for the good price for them. Sadly 3 star due to the box arriving broken inside the amazon packaging and around 10 of the keel being broken along with it not being 1/2"

These lumber crayons from the Zeluga Store on Amazon have met my expectations. Of course that can mean anything, so when I see that in other places I just laugh. You were promised crayons and expected a Waterford Pen? And you were disappointed? Whose fault is that? I expected crayons similar to the ones my dad, as a sheet metal man, brought home when I was a kid, and I expected crayons similar to those I used to write on tires when I ran a service station. Was I disappointed? Not at all. These crayons act like crayons. I was able to write on a variety of stuff, and got legible writings. A sheet of metal. A tire. Some scrap wood. These crayons worked fine for me.

How hard is it to add a small piece of tape at each end of the box to keep it closed in shipping? It's just a peeve of mine to open a package and find the contents strewn about in the shipping container. This is particularly maddening with a product like this, where each crayon is soft enough to be dented and inherently marks up everything it bounces up against. All that said, the crayons themselves are good for marking lumber, which is what I use them for.

My husband says these are quality crayons. He says they dont mark as dark as his regular brand when the plywood is wet. But they do just fine. He says what he likes about them is the dont break. He always has a problem with them breaking, but these are very strong. He said 5 stars~! and then some~!!!
