These beans make excellent tasting dark roast coffee. It brews well in a french press for a strong but smooth cup of coffee. Pairs well with cream. All of the bags I have received have been fresh with a good best by date.

This is a nice dark roast coffee—if you manage to get a bag that isn't opened when you get it. I ordered a couple of bags of this coffee. I thought it was an extremely light roast the first few times I tried it—then I noticed a rip on the back of the bag. That explained the loss in flavor. I got a replacement bag and that one tasted pretty nice. I ordered another bag and recently discovered the bottom wasn't sealed and had coffee beans spill out. Two out of two bags opened is not a good look. Luckily Amazon has a reasonable replacement policy. If you happened to get an unsealed bag, expect a nice dark roast. But definitely check your bags first thing for rips or exposure to oxygen before you start drinking. Or just buy in the store so you are spared delays and headaches from getting an opened bag. ... show more

Fresh beans. Bold taste. I prefer a very dark roast. Some brands claim dark roast but but what you get is a heavy medium. If you like a robust coffee bean with a kick this is it. The other dark roast I use and like a lot that is very similar and has an S and B in the name.

I've been stocking up on this strong whole-bean coffee for several years. If you like a hearty French roast flavor and delicious aroma, this is the one to buy. The vacuum-sealed bags keep the beans fresh for months, and although the price has noticeably increased, it is still not expensive for the amount and quality you get. I have no idea why this called "Bonne Nuit" (good night), however, since you wouldn't drink this before going to bed. ... show more
