As they are stainless and sturdy, I use these in food prep in association with a milligram scale for powders like sucralose. It's not really possible to get an accurate measurement with them because there is no leveling possibility, but it still gets me close. With one application, I aim for an ideal of 400 mg and it eyeing it will get me between 350 and 420. They are also pointed enough that I can push the spoon back down into the powder without compressing it, therefore saving me the step of identifying the right spoon or washing it afterward. These scoops are inexpensive but they feel inexpensive. I you need a large number of implements the value might make it the right choice. The stamped metal is thin and the edges are rough. I haven't tried fiddling with sandpaper to smooth them, but that might work. I would have spent more on fewer, higher quality tools but could not find that option on Amazon. ... show more

When open the box I have noticed that the edges are not fine. I use these tools to formulate cosmetics and was worried about microbes getting in these fine cracks, so it was returned.

    • Great lab and craft spatulas
This is a nice set of stainless steel scientific spatulas. Many of the pieces are heavy duty pieces that are great for sorting specimens. The few are smaller thin spoon/spatula which are great for measuring out chemicals.
