Why These Two Consumables Matter The A1 Mini, and other 3D printing machines, performs an automatic wipe before every print, which means the nozzle wiper takes a beating over time. A torn or degraded wiper leads directly to failed prints — filament smears on the build plate, inconsistent first layers, and wasted material. Silicone hot end socks are equally important: they stabilize nozzle temperature, reduce thermal drift, and keep the heater block from accumulating burnt filament buildup. These are not optional maintenance items; they are wearing parts, and having spares on the shelf is simply good practice.
