I read quite a few reviews of filament storage bags before making a purchase and ultimately decided on these. I’ve previously used filament storage bags from Polyalchemy, which worked great for me. However, my filament collection outgrew the number of bags I had, and unfortunately Polyalchemy’s website appears to no longer exist, so I turned to Amazon. The Vacbird bags don’t seem quite as thick as the Polyalchemy bags, but they hold a vacuum extremely well. In fact, I may actually prefer these. I store my vacuum-sealed spools inside the original Bambu Lab boxes, and these bags take up less space, which makes storage easier. It keeps the ziplock seal from deforming in the box, and slowly releasing the vacuum. The pump included with the bags is excellent. I was initially concerned it wouldn’t be strong enough to break the static seal of the bag, but that wasn’t an issue at all. The pump quickly evacuates the air and pulls a very strong vacuum. Overall, these bags have met my expectations, and I will definitely be ordering more.

I had such terrible experience with some of those, "generic" filament bags (clear one side, translucent on other side, with BLUE zip lock)... They were so flimsy that after one use, they would develop a hole somewhere... I saw these and decided to try them. First, the review on the USB pump. The pump is GREAT. It works so fast and it pulls strong vaccuum. After I finish with the pump, I try my hand pump and it does NOT take any more air out, so the pump is great. The bags, are something else. First of all, they claim, "light proof", and one side is opaque black, but the other side is... CLEAR... Secondly, and most important, NONE of the bags held vaccuum. After few days, the bags were all loose, and the color-changing dessicant inside turned color. I filled a 5-gallon bag with water, and then filled the bags with air, sealed it, and then submerged it to see if there were pinhole leaks. NO LEAKS FOUND, yet the bags still lose vaccuum after several days. It does not lose vaccuum as fast as a bag that has a hole. I then pulled vaccuum on few of the bags, then used duct tape on one, vinyl-raft repair tape on another, and heavy-duty packing tape on third, and I used these tapes to seal over the vent holes (thinking maybe the vent is not sealing). But nope. all three of those bags still leaked. I then pulled vaccuum on a bag with filament, then taped up the vent hole, and then used duct tape to tape across the locked ziplock opening, wondering if it was a failed zipper... Nope these also just leaked. I wonder if the material they used is gas-permeable? This makes these bags virtually useless. I tried to use them to store coffee instead of filament, and even for that they are useless as 4-5 days later, the bags lose all vaccuum. I now just use whatever remaining bags as non-vaccuum ziplock bags. While the pump is really great, the bags are trash.

This vacuum storage kit is super easy to use and does a great job keeping my filament dry and dust-free. The bags seal up tight, and it’s nice having everything organized instead of having spools lying around open to the air. The USB pump works pretty well — it’s compact and gets the job done, though sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get a perfect seal. I found it works best when plugged into a wall adapter rather than a computer, since it loses power over USB ports. Out of the 20 bags, 3 had small leaks that let air back in after a while, but the rest have held up great. For the price and convenience, I still think it’s worth it, especially if you’re just getting started with filament storage. Overall, a solid 4/5 — easy, effective, and affordable, just be prepared to replace a few bags here and there.

Update: I contacted the seller regarding the pump issue. Even though it was way beyond the 30 day return window the sent me another complete set to replace the faulty pump. Outstanding customer service!! I am changing the review to 5 stars. The only suggestion I have is to make the USB charging cord detachable from the pump so it can be changed out if there is an issue. This works great except the vacuum pump does not last. The USB c connector pulled off of the pump when removing it from the charge adapter. Was unable to reattach as the two wires were very thin that go into the connector for contact and bent. I am now stuck with something I can't use. Guess I will look for a different pump. I suggest that you look elsewhere.b

I picked up this Vacbird 20-Pack Filament Vacuum Storage Kit hoping to find a reliable, long-term solution for protecting my moisture-sensitive 3D printing filaments (like Nylon, TPU, and ASA). Unfortunately, this kit simply doesn't perform well, and it really isn't my cup of tea compared to other storage options on the market. Where this kit falls short:Frustrating Seal Failures: The absolute most critical job of a vacuum bag is to hold its seal over time. While these look great initially, more than half of the bags I used leaked air back inside within 48 to 72 hours. Finding my sensitive spools completely loose inside the bags after a couple of days completely defeats the purpose of vacuum storage. Underpowered USB Pump: The included electronic USB pump is incredibly slow and weak. It takes a frustratingly long time to pull the air out of a single bag, and it lacks the necessary suction power to create a truly tight, rock-hard vacuum wrap around a standard 1kg filament spool. I often had to resort to a manual hand pump or a household vacuum just to get the air out. Stiff, Finicky Material: The "light-proof" bag material is quite stiff and rigid. This stiffness makes it very difficult to get a perfect, airtight seal along the double-zipper track, even when using the included sealing clips. What worked okay: To its credit, the 20-pack bundle size is generous, and the white light-proof design is a neat concept for protecting colored filaments from UV degradation. However, a neat design doesn't mean much if the bags can't physically hold a basic vacuum seal. If you need a reliable way to keep your filaments completely bone-dry for weeks or months at a time, I cannot recommend this Vacbird kit. Between the weak USB pump and the high rate of bag seal leakage, it causes more frustration than it solves. I ended up finding much better luck using standard heavy-duty reusable kitchen sealer bags instead.

I decided to try this kit even after reading reviews that said the bags eventually leak air. Unfortunately, I had the same experience. The bags themselves seem to be made of good-quality material, and the included USB vacuum pump works very well. However, if you plan to reuse the bags multiple times, be aware that after opening and resealing them a few times (about three in my case), they no longer hold a proper vacuum and slowly let air back in. It's a decent kit for short-term use, but I wouldn't rely on the bags for long-term filament storage if you plan to open and reseal them frequently.

I had to learn exactly ly how they worked but once I did I have had no issues with these at all! I have reused them several times and they work just as well even on repeat uses.
