My gate set-up is a standard 4 x 4 post with an agricultural type swing gate that already has the loops welded to the gate to accept these hinge pins, but these could be used on a myriad of other gate types. I prefer this type of hinge pin because they can be adjusted without needing to remove the gate versus the “lag bolt” type where you have to take the gate off in order to thread the pin in or out by turning it to adjust the height and/or level of the gate. With those, it's a guessing game because you have to take the gate off and put it back on multiple times to get it right, whereas with this design, you can make the adjustments while the gate is still attached and see the exact level while you're doing it. Also, after time when the gate will inevitably sag some, I can adjust it with a simple crescent wrench in a matter of minutes versus the hassle as mentioned above with the initial installation. I've also noticed over time, the lag bolt type hinge pins tend to rot the posts out and pull loose where the pin goes in since there's no back support on the post and the weight of the gate is constantly pulling on the threads and wood. With this type of pin, I put a liberal amount of clear silicone into the drilled hole before installing and it forced the silicone out when I inserted it and sealed up around the washers when I tightened them down, which kept water from getting in and rotting the wood out. Just one extra step that could save some extra hassle of dealing with a rotted post 4-5 years from now. I didn't use the part that accepts the pin on the gate side since my gate already has them made on, but if I needed to use them on a gate, they could be attached with the proper-sized “U” bolts, which is a plus. I might change them out later because they are well machined and the gate would probably swing better than it does now, but at the moment, the set-up I have is fine. These are very well-made and look nice if you're using on a gate that is visible to others and like a clean look. More importantly is the adjustability without needing to remove the gate multiple time and ease of the initial installation. Competitively price, shipped and received fast. 5- Stars!

Here on the farm it seems I am constantly installing gates. This kit makes a wall or post mounted gate simple to install. It has a modest weight capacity depending on how you mount the attachment points (screws, lag bolts, bolts, etc.) but the hardware will support (I estimate) 200#-250#. The stainless steel construction is impervious to rust (but don't confuse that with corrosion proof). A very good product at a reasonable price.

I love this style of gate hinge and these are sturdy! The thing to bear in mind with these hinges is that the hinge needs to go all the way through one part. This is not a screw in hinge. As long as you have a way to get the bolt all the way through one side of the gate (for example a 4 x 4), then this is perfect. I particularly like this style of hinge because you can lift the entire gate off very easily.

This wall mount gate hinge works perfect for my application. I was looking for a solution where the gate can pivot open and close as normal, but where I could also easily remove the entire gate for when I needed extra clearance to bring equipment into my backyard. The 6” post fits perfectly through the long dimension of a 2x4, and the hinge pivot pieces are easy to mount and adjust for a smooth hinge operation. The hinges are nice and sturdy, and the plating looks great. When I need to remove the gate, I can simply lift the gate up and it detaches from the pivot pieces. I do wish the mounting hardware (screws and/or bolts) were included for the hinge pivot piece.
