I built a trap box using this stainless‑steel one‑way door, and it turned out great. The 304 steel feels solid and heavy‑duty, not flimsy like the cheaper iron frames I’ve used before. The bob wires swing in smoothly, and once the bird is inside, gravity drops them right back into place with no chance of slipping back out. The spacing is perfect for pigeons and doves, and I like that it’ll work for quail and other small game birds too. All the rods are polished smooth, so nothing snags feathers. I started thinking about having a pigeon coop after a trip to Egypt. Many people keep pigeon coops on their roof and they are a source of meat. Pigeon is even the wedding night meal in some cultures there. While I’m not sure I’d want to eat a city bird that had been eating off exhaust covered roads, I would have no issue with raising a few birds in the country for food. While pigeons are never in short supply, often occupying every underpass, they are not so easy to catch. I’ve only been able to catch them using french fries near the ocean where they’re acclimated to being fed. This handy door can be affixed to a cage with a bait bird placed within to attract others to enter… then they can’t leave. Alternatively, the door can be placed on a coop/roost to keep birds in during inclement weather or for health checks before release. It’s actually big enough for fairly large birds, say the size of pheasant, to enter, but the bars are close enough that even jumbo quail might be kept in. Great product ... show more
