We got out DiamondForge 3 step ladder for use inside of our home. We did have another 3 step stool that we were using but it was a little clumsy to use and difficult to store away when not in use. The DiamondForge 3 step ladder is sturdier and folds flatter for easier storage. It's great for changing light blubs, cleaning ceiling fan blades or the top of your refrigerator. Some reviewers mentioned have difficulty opening the DiamondForge 3 step ladder. All the hinge points of this ladder are nice and snug, there is no room for play, which can cause the ladder to be wobbly or unstable. This is why this ladder is sturdy on level surfaces. I'm sure after repeated use, opening and closing this ladder will be a little smoother over time. If you'd like, drop of light oil or a little spray lubricate at each hinge point will also help to smooth opening and closing of this ladder. Once you get used to lock on the steps, it's easy to unhook and close the ladder when done. The ladder is made of a thick gauge of metal. All hinged points are done with large rivets. There are several spots where the ladder has been welded together. These welds (on the ladder I got) don't appear to be the best. They don't appear to had gotten enough penetration into the metal parts. That could cause a weld to fail if too much weight were put on it. But the ladder frame has several thick coats of paint that it's impossible to see how well the welds were done. The ladder has two lower steps that area 12 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches deep. The top step is 12 inches wide and 9 inches deep. Each step has a ridged, non-slip rubber surface. Each leg has a large, grooved rubber foot for better grip and to prevent sliding on smooth surfaces like tiled floors. We've been using our DiamondForge 3 step ladder now for several weeks and are pretty happy with it. As with all ladders big or small, always make sure to setup on a level surface with all four legs firmly on the ground. Be careful not to over reach when you are on the top step and when going up or down the ladder, take your time, if you rush, you may lose your balance and fall. This can happen on ladders with and without side rails. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a sturdy, easy to store short ladder for in your home. BTW, keep the tag attached to the ladder, it has the customer service phone number in case you need it.
