  • The fittings and inlet holes on both side coolers ( for trans etc) are way too small.....
I sent this directly to Top Racing but seems worthwhile to post here. Dear Top. This unit seems well made and should work, however as noted in some other comments on amazon, some of the fittings for the transmission cooler and other connections do not seat properly so the seals, in the fitting, do not contact the aluminum unit properly PLUS. what is more disturbing is that the holes in the inlets/ outlets are very small compared to the old stock unit. Even if I bought proper Doorman fittings. I am very concerned that these very small inlet / outlet holes will not provide enough flow to cool. The holes in the stock radiators are about 5 times larger in diameter. Drilling these to bigger sizes seems like it would be very difficult to do since the cooling fins of the core are directly below the small inlet/outlet holes and one would not want to drill into those cores while making this modification. what to do? do you have units that have larger inlet/exit holes to the core on Both sides? this is for a 2011 2500 Suburban ... show more

  • Radiator purchase
I originally purchase this item, and it appeared perfectly fine, and my truck ran well, but then it started leaking. I contacted the seller, and they were really professional and very nice and understandable about the situation. After showing pictures and video of the leak they gave me a full refund with no problem. I highly recommend and that's why I re-purchased the same radiator with the same seller. ... show more

  • Decent radiator and good customer service
I have purchased this radiator 2 times. The first about 2 1/2 years ago and another just over 1 year ago. The mounting ears do need to be trimmed on the corners to fit as others have stated, and your fan shroud needs the top and bottom flanges removed to fit tightly, but for the cost savings, it's a minor issue. It comes with the proper transmission and engine oil cooler adapters (I used them in a 2002 Tahoe and a 2004 Tahoe, both with 5.3 liter engines without engine oil coolers; just left the oil cooler capped). Performs well in high temp environments. It does over-cool though. It is missing the flow restrictor in the port for the 1/2(?) diameter air-purge hose that returns directly to the expansion tank. This unregulated flow returns cooled coolant back to the engine via the expansion tank and then to the return heater hose and thus bypasses the thermostat. In cold weather this is enough flow to prevent the engine from reaching full operating temp, especially at lower speeds. I placed an all aluminum TV RG-6 F-connector in the hose at the tank end to act as a restrictor, which works well. I also thought a 3/8 copper plumbing cap or a short brass rod with an 1/8" hole drilled in it would probably work. The second radiator purchased did, however, start leaking after about 6 months in service. One of the cross-tubes near the bottom developed a steady stream leak. I contacted the seller through Amazon, and the seller agreed to give me a full refund, even though it was just over 1 year from date of purchase (it sat for about 6 months before I got it installed). Excellent customer service and fast response to my inquiry. They were very professional. I will buy again from them and would use this radiator again. ... show more

  • Too big
I ordered this for an 11 Silverado it did not fit. The rubber bushings I had to shave a 1/4 inch off then the mounting tabs I had to cut the ends off where they overhang I finally got it to go in but the radiator touches the upper core support. I went through this and after I was contacted by them they made things right with me and I will be using them again customer service is important this company has my respect and will maintain my business with them ... show more

  • Requires modifications, but a nice piece. Lasted about 3 years.
Update 3/1/2025 - The radiator failed. A braze joint where the core tube and side tank meet cracked. Radiator lasted about 3 years in a daily driven vehicle. I would recommend an OEM or a quality OEM equivalent if you’re going to spend the money. Original review in 2023: I purchased this radiator for my 2007 GMC Yukon, 5.3 V8. Upon arrival the box was very beat up, nearly open, but all items were still inside. I must say, it’s a solid appearing piece with nice welds. Appears at face value to be a great alternative to the cheap factory replacements that fail quickly. This is where the love ended though… it’s a lot of messing around and troubleshooting to get this thing to work. Once I got through all of these issues, it seems to work well though :). Items that had to be modified to fit in the vehicle: 1. Lower Radiator Mount Bushings - Had to remove about 1/4-3/8” of thickness from them to accommodate the thick welds and tall side tanks. 2. I had to trim a good bit of the tabs on the radiator surface above the side tanks. I also used a file to round off all of the sharp edges on the mounting tabs. 3. The Electric Fans fit in, but the tabs welded on the radiator were too short for the mid mount on the fans. I made adapters to extend this from delrin acetal plastic. 4. MOST FRUSTRATING PART - Radiator to Expansion Tank hose bypass has no restriction orifice like the factory radiator has in it. You must make a small orifice piece with a 0.095-0.125” diameter hole to restrict the coolant flow. I made a small part from stainless steel with hose barbs on both ends. I used a 0.095” diameter orifice hole. Without this, the vehicle will cool down while driving. If idling or in traffic it would warm up to 208 degrees or so and turn on the fans as intended. On my HPTuners VCM Scanner, ECT at 70mph was only 150-155 deg F on a 50 degree day. Sounds awesome, but it’s not. The 07-14 GM vehicles (and potentially others) will throw a P0128 code for thermostat unable to regulate. The orifice is a controlled bypass of the thermostat. With too much bypass, the engine cannot heat up as too much cold water is routed into the engine, around the thermostat. This code causes a dash warning of “ENGINE HOT AC TURNED OFF”. It is confusing as the code infers the engine is overheating but it’s not. It also shuts off the coolant temperature gauge inside the truck, which is a great idea when you think you are overheating. Anyways… Install the orifice and this goes away. The engine heats up to 208 degrees, just as it used to. Would I buy again… yes, but only because I know all of the things above. It works great now, and I’m sure it will be great when the warmer weather comes. Just to add… I’m an Engineer by trade and was previously an ASE certified mechanic. ... show more
