Got this for my daughter to mess around with while we fish. Some of the gear is a bit much for a 4 year old, but she’s growing into it, and that’s on me, not the set. She loves having her own box, and it makes fishing with her more fun. Could’ve used a bit more basic stuff like extra line or a few more lure options, but the box has space to add on, so it’s not a huge issue. Solid enough for beginner kids and parents who want to teach them.

This tackle kit is an excellent starter gift. It has soft plastic baits, it has crank baits, it has a top water popper, and it comes with many different options for rigging numerous types of presentations. You can use a jigging head with the soft baits, or you can use one of the large-bellied hooks to run a weedless rig. There are beads to let you set up different attracting rigs, and there's even a set of bobber stoppers to set up a floating bobber rig if you want to do live bait. And for those anglers who are comfortable using spoons, there are a few assorted sizes of gold and silver spoons too, as well as some that are intended to be added to other lures for more "flash", as they don't have their own hooks. The kit also includes a large number of tiny hooks, clearly intended for small-mouthed small fish, like sunfish. These hooks are "eyeless". They have a compressed flat surface where the normal eye of a hook would be, so you have to know how to tie a snell knot in order to attach them securely. You won't be catching big fish with these hooks, so you'll normally be using no larger than 6lb monofilament. However, the other lures and hooks in the kit can easily catch smallmouth and largemouth bass if presented properly. And now to the tools... These are what first caught my eye. This kit includes a decent fish scale with added measuring tape, a fish lip gripper for those times when you catch a toothy fish or just don't want to hold it with your hands, and a handy pair of needle-nosed pliers with a few added features. There's a line cutter in the base of the pliers, a few spots for squeezing weights, and a little hook at the end for separating the coils of snap rings. Buying these tools separately would cost more than this whole kit. They're not excessively strong, but they will easily hold up to hobby fishing for lighter weight fish. All that you need to add is your chosen line, a few weights, and your own fishing rod, and you can hit the shoreline and start reeling 'em in!

This was a gift for my niece. The tools are ok, the variety of lures and hooks was fine, if a bit odd. The scale was rudimentary, but it works. Box solid quality, and overall, it will do the job if not especially well. Well need more items to be truly useful.

This is a great all-in-one kit to get you ready for fishing. This is a useful assortment for the Scout or youngster in your life. Digital scale is an item you might retain for yourself. You will need to supply two AAA batteries for it. Needlenose pliers for kid are useful, "fish lip gripper" - who knows.. Many useful rubber hookless 'baits', particularly crayfish replicas which seem expensive when separately purchased. A few front weighted hooks give you everything you need for a spinning 'Ned' - rig setup. Before awarding to Scout/kid there is one thing I would definitely change, the hooks. Most all are sized to fish for minnows or 3" Sunnies. So small any fish will likely completely swallow them. Remove and safely discard them. Add some decent sized hooks, particularly if you are going bass fishing. If you must use the small hooks for dock fishing with a toddler for small Sunnies, give the fish a break by removing the counter-barb at the hook point. An easy way is using pliers to bend back flush with the main hook shaft 5 stars - best use case for Scout or youngster Useful assortment for Scout or other youngster

I got pink! Real men can sport the pink! This is great to give to a child starting out. You have everything you will need to bring fishing. The new style plier, with line cutters on it. The pliers basically are long needle pliers improved for fishing. A handle held scale with tape measure is great to have to ensure it is a keeper. Some lakes have restrictions and this helps. Variety of lures is wonderful. But to help the beginners, some instructions on how to tie the line and setup different lures would be beneficial for that beginner. Other than that, cannot go wrong with this tackle box. I didn’t keep the box. I put everything into 3600 or 3700 tackle trays. I have a fishing backpack I use.

It comes packed with a solid variety of gear—crankbaits, hooks, soft baits, pliers, even a scale and a lip gripper. The quality isn’t top-shelf pro gear, but for casual or beginner anglers it’s more than enough to get going right out of the box. The pink color is bold and actually makes it easy to spot if you set it down in the grass or sand. What I really like is the layout of the box itself. The 3-layer design keeps everything organized and easy to access, and the latches feel secure enough for travel. I got this as a gift for someone just getting into fishing and they were stoked. It’s a fun, complete setup and it takes the guesswork out of buying gear piece by piece. Great value for the price.
