We bought a new top of the line king size Tempurpidic mattress. It arrived and was nothing like at the store! I didn't know it was shipped compressed and would take months to break in. I had surgery 3 weeks after it was delivered but the few times I slept in it were the most uncomfortable nights I've ever had, so much that I ended up in our spare room. We ordered this topper in a last ditch effort to make it more comfortable and boy were we surprised! It's more comfortable than our brand new mattress!! The straps secure it to the bed nicely. It hasn't moved at all, 3 weeks into use. I've spent much of my recovery in bed and for the most part been comfortable. The only downfall for me is I need help getting in and out of bed because of the added height (I'm short, lol) and after about 10 minutes I sink nicely into it but it is difficult to move around due to the surgery. My husband however loves it. In hindsight I realize not only is this more comfortable, but it will also sustain the life of our new mattress. This product is with no exaggeration my best purchase. Due to a back injury almost 30 years ago i have chronic pain. I would wake up 4-5 times a night due to pain and have to shift positions to stretch my back. Its gotten worse in the last ten years overnight and i have always been a sound sleeper. My mother (also with back injury) bought one a immediately forced me go buy one. I have not slept this sell in years. I now sleep the night again without awaking due to pain. I have other name brand memory foam mattresses in the house and they are nothing like this. 400 million stars. It had a slight smell but dissipated within a day or two. For reviews speaking toward longevity , instructions say to rotate it. So make sure you do. Ive only had it a month now so I cant speak regarding longevity. This topper is very nice, it inflated nicely and didn't have a bad/heavy smell at all. It was very different and needed to get used to it. We slept on it for about 4 weeks and have decided to return it. It's kind of like quicksand, you sink and then it's a tad difficult to roll over / reposition in the middle of the night since you just sink and say in that shape. My boyfriend is 6'3 and 290 so he didn't like how much he sunk in either, and I would sink toward him too, if we wanted to cuddle it just became a sinkhole in the middle. I rate it 4 stars because it was nice for my shoulder and I'm a stomach sleeper so that was nice too. My bf also said he was able to sleep well and through the night. We decided to go with a 2" instead and LOVE it, just the right amount of extra cushion we need. It was a chore to get it back into a box for return but were able to do it. Super comfortable! This totally transformed my bed into a comfy, cozy wonderland. It does not make the bed hot at all, which was a concern of mine. I suffer with multiple chronic illnesses which cause me a great deal of pain, but this topper has helped tremendously. My husband refers to me as the "Princess and the Pea" when it comes to mattresses and pillows. Sadly to say it has taken 3 years for me to finally get a good night's sleep all THANKS TO THIS TOPPER. I bought a memory foam/gel mattress in 2020 and ended up with a frozen shoulder. I then decided to try a sleep number but it felt too much like sleeping on a glorified air mattress, even though we got one of the higher end models. I sent it back and decided to just get a topper for my original mattress. I opted for a cover that resembled a sheet with a pillow top attached. The fluff of the pillow top was not overfilled as promised and I still woke up in pain so I bought a second (slightly different style) to go on top of the first one. At this point waking up in pain was something I had become accustomed too and I began to believe this was as good as it was going to get. My change of heart came from waking up with a bruise on my hip from side sleeping and I decided enough is enough. I was nervous to buy this topper but from prior reviews it sounded like it was going to meet my needs. I needed something that was supportive but with a squish so that when I'm on my side it adjusts to the curves of my body. This topper does just that but it's not so deep that you get trapped in your silhouette. When I change positions it releases the prior shape quickly and adjusts to my new position. It also feels like sleeping on a cloud without being too soft that you sink to the bottom. I just put this on my bed yesterday and it is so comfy! It’s not rock hard but you also don’t sink right into it either! It only took about 5-6 hours to shapen up after removing it from the package. Love the comfort. No morning back ache. The odd thing is, my side does not recover flatness during the day. I am 6'3" and weigh 212lbs, which is not far off the 2.5lbs/inch of average people. Is it possible there was insufficient gel in the foam?
