Description

We offer raw green unroasted coffee beans for the home roaster who enjoys roasting their own coffee beans at home. Unroasted coffee beans must be roasted prior to use for brewing. Roasting coffee can be a very simple process, or it can be a real work of art created by an experienced artisan. The roasting process has always been a mysterious kind of thing considered to be a closely guarded process of proprietary roasting profiles kept only for the privileged artisans “in the know” with sophisticated commercial roasting equipment. In recent years this has changed substantially with the new wave of home coffee roasters trying their hand at the roasting craft. They have learned many of the tricks of time and temperature modulating their own flavor profiles creating their own works of art in the cup. Coffee is a universal drink loved by many people, some for-taste others seeking the caffeine but when you roast it at home it takes on a whole new appeal. Your coffee quest becomes an intensely personal adventure where you are in control of many aspects of taste results. Roasting is truly a rewarding experience where the more experience you get the better your coffee tastes. Basically, you heat the beans to around 400F to 450F in about 10-15 minutes time period. Once the beans reach your desired doneness or “brown” simply remove them from the heat and cool to room temperature as quickly as possible. After this you can use them to brew coffee! When you buy our beans, you can rest assured that you are getting fresh current crop beans from some of the best coffee plantations in the world. We believe that the best taste comes from premium high-altitude growing regions. We source our beans with great care, ensuring that the farmers are paid fairly for their time and product. When you buy our beans, you are supporting the communities in which beans were grown ensuring equity for all. Invest in our premium high-quality beans, taking your roasting experience to the next level!

  • Great bean, even if a bit unusual
I'm pretty much a coffee roasting newb, but in trying different beans out, I immediately fell in love with these beans for a couple reasons. Taste - a bit different, but very mild as far as not being crazy acidic. I prefer light roasts and this goes down very mellow compared to anything else I've tried. Chaff - What chaff? Its almost non-existent due to how its processed. It also makes a good 'stretch' coffee, ie, mix the beans with *other* beans and it helps cut the acidity down (again... light roasts are my thing) Cons: Lightweight: You have to be REAL careful to not torch these. They are very light, expand a LOT, and roast quickly. Its very easy to overdo it from my limited experience. Taste: I like the taste, but it definitely has its own thing going on and I can see some people disliking it. I call it 'swamp coffee' for a reason. All that being said... they'[re coffee beans. You may or may not like them, so just give them a try. ... show more

  • Great unique Coffee Bean ! Great unique Coffee Bean !
If you love great coffee that has very earthy tones, this is the bean for you. I love it for Americanos and Espresso! Very clean and not bitter. It is the most unique coffee bean I have roasted or tasted.

  • My go-to coffee for blending with other green coffees.
Other greens are not from Amazon.

  • At medium roast it smelled like a stinky wet sock.
I medium roasted this coffee. There really was no chocolate, caramel flavor to it as the seller claims. Had an earthy flavor. Not very bold at all. Will not buy again. I have seen other reviews that are 5 stars but it is not for this malabar monsoon coffee.

  • Not India monsoon
I worked as a roaster and that’s not an India monsoon

  • Enjoy the Coffee
I did not buy Sulawesi in the Burlap Bag, however, I will say that I love the coffee. I roast my own. I like a Full City Roast/Dark. Keep in mind, cook low and slow, into a medium roast and into a dark roast. I cook for nearly an hour 1/2 to accomplish the full flavor of this bean. This is one of the smoothest coffees I have ever tasted. For example, I have roasted Jamaican, Ethiopian, Rwandan, Nicaraguan, Columbian, and Mexican coffees and others. This is my favorite to cook, and then drink. Smooth flavor and great smoky taste, a hint of chocolate and no bitter aftertaste. This is a great bean from trees upwards to 250 years old. If you get a chance, read about the beans at Lavanta coffee. "Not an advertiser for them." Just enjoy the coffee. ... show more
