I used this on the fence at my boyfriend’s farm and it works great! He keeps an electric fence around his cow/ horse pastures and this was amazing for it. It was so easy to unwind and there was plenty of wire, a ton in fact! Definitely recommend!

We have two of the Gallagher ones. These work much better and are well worth spending the extra money. One of these broke within the first hour of use. They have a tendency to not lock very well. They are difficult to unreel. I wouldn’t spend the money on one again.

This spool is easy to rig because it reels out well and is easy to hold. We'll see how long lasting the polywire is, but it looks to be a good quality material.

This is the 4th type of 3:1 reel that we now own and it is probably our least favorite. First, it is nice that it comes with poly wire already wound on it; however, ours was wound on 'backwards' so we had to reel it completely out and rewind it correctly (at least being a 3:1 it didn't take too long ;)). Yes, 3:1 reels are awesome to use for poly wire and this one (so far) does seem to do that OK. It does have the same hook and reeling set up as our other brands & it does come with a plastic hook handle (which are good in many applications). It is a bit more light weight than our other brands, but still seems like it should hold up ok. It comes with black & yellow poly, while visible, it may not be quite as visible as the white & black or the white & red (nor the thicker braid, which we actually prefer). The stainless steel should hold up well, but also has more resistance than a mixed metal so won't carry as much of a charge due to the resistance drop over distance. So, if you don't have a powerful charger & a high weed load, this poly may not deliver the expected result (with all e fencing, use manufacturers guidelines for quantity/size & grounding). We have used our poly & 3:1 reels for several years in a rotational grazing program with cattle, sheep, horses and hogs and are a dealer for a competitive brand (which we would rate higher - although it is also more expensive); however, this item does have comparable features and would be an economical alternative. We have only had it in use for a few months, so at this point, I can't comment on the longevity of it. Even at my rating of 3 stars, I would still rate this a good value for the money; especially if you are new to portable fencing & want to try some without a large investment. The reel should likely outlast the poly, and you can always replace the poly with a better quality or different poly in the future.

I am having issues with piglets constantly escaping my regular 2 strands poly wire so I had to try something which I thought would be more conductive to help with the escaping piglets issues. But this is not just 6 strands poly wire with high conductivity, but it also all preloaded on a great quality geared reel at a good value price. I was able to use and run the wire off the reel quickly and smoothly. As of now it works very well and I have no more escaping piglets. I can definitely recommend this reel which very conveniently preloaded already with good amount of high conductivity 6 strands poly wire. I have not used the whole roll of wire yet, but when I am done I plan to get my old poly wire on this reel to keep it all nice a tidy ready to go for a next project.

Very functional reel that makes it relatively easy to string out a long electric fence line and then go back and connect the cable to the insulators. Rolls out easily and gets the job done quickly- when you need to put up an electric boundary quickly. Looks to me that when the reel is empty that I can roll on new line by tying together shorter rolls until I have all this reel can hold. This is my only reel and none of my multiple elec. fence line rolls have reels so this will be great to organize and store long lengths until needed. Great find!

This is a review of a free product: This works just as well as many other reels, including the Premier One. The poly wire, is the same wire strand and size as most poly wire. There ae 6 strands, so conductivity is good. For the price point and not having to load the poly wire, I consider it a deal. The only bad thing I can say about this product is that the included fence handle is completely plastic, there is no way to complete the circuit as there is no metal to carry the charge.
