This set of combination locks is decent for most scenarios, but I would not call them waterproof by any means. Water can easily get into the dials or into the lock itself from above. I am using them on a gate and shed that dont need to be locked all the time so they are fine for my purposes.

These combination locks have worked fine but I will be replacing them with another brand. My biggest issue is that the dials for the combination move too freely. This makes it difficult to keep them in place when putting in the code. By the time it gets to the last digit the first needs adjusted again because it's so loose.

I needed a simple padlock I could use when I go to the gym, and I have long since forgotten the combination to the old dial-style padlock I have currently locked to my gym bag. So when I saw this two-pack of customizable four digit combination padlocks, and it was a quick decision to order them. I like the four digit customizable combination, as I can pick something meaningful to me and not be forced to remember an arcane series of digits and rotational patterns. The locks themselves are reasonably solid and seem appropriate as a basic deterrent to quick-hit thieves. I don't know how tough the materials are or how shim resistant these are, but as LockPickingLawyer would point out, no lock is impenetrable, so while I can't speak to how well these would hold up against angle grinders, bolt cutters, or thin padlock shims, but I'm not too concerned, as this will be used for short term gym locker security. The locks are marketed as being waterproof, and good for outdoor use. The lock does have a drain hole, so assuming the marketing is accurate, this would work fine as an out door shed or fence lock. I like the extra long shackle, which makes it easier to access the combination dials when the lock is in place. Setting the combination on these was very simple. Opening the shackle, turning it 180 degrees and push it in place allows for the setting of any four digit combination. Once set, simply replace the shackle and you are good to go. I am happy with these locks.

Dials move smoothly and instructions were clear and easy to follow to set the combo. Locks feel nice and hefty and would be intimidating on a chain or latch.

For number locks, these are better than average but not quite quality enough to earn five stars. When I shake the lock when it is locked, I hear a lot of movement inside which to me signals that the pieces don't fit together that great that they have a lot of space to move. That being said, I was impressed that these could be programmed as I hadn't paid attention and thought I'd simply be getting locks with assigned passcode numbers. And they can be reset whenever you want (so long as you remember the previous code.) These aren't the greatest locks so I wouldn't use them for anything with a ton of value over time in a largely unattended area. But for lockers, footlockers, trunks at home, etc where you want to discourage or limit people's nosiness, these are a good pick. For me, I've bought so many number locks (typically the front spin dial) and then forgotten codes after I put them into storage for awhile (say if I stopped going to the gym, or my new job didn't use employee lockers.) I like that if I'm in a similar scenario I can reset it to the starting code 0000 or something dumb like 1234 and then those would be the most obvious to try when I need a lock again.
