Attention:To prevent no power output, you must ensure that the terminals are stripped and securely clamp the screw terminals into the thermostat to maintain good contact. personal advice: required to ask the person who understands the electrician to install. Be advised, the initial ends on this wire are treated and if you cut them to shorten it, the copper is tougher to get into the thermostat with pinch vs. screw terminals. Will result in no power output. For Nest E connected this adapter to the C and R pins (R also having the HVAC's Red line connected),For Nest Learning Thermostat,3rd generation connected this adapter to the C and RC pins

  • Cheapest and easiest solution
This was the easiest and cheapest solution to address my c wire issue. I bought the Ecobbe4 and it needed obviously the C wire. Not a problem, the have an adapter and the instructions look easy enough and they have phone support as well. The problem was that the instructions assume you have a circuit board in your AC. Mine did not, I guess it was too old. So I had to trace the wires from the thermostat and found that they were all just spliced onto the AC wires. Not a problem. The problem became the issue of finding the 24 volt wire. With the help of ecobee support and them explaining how the wiring schematic worked it should have been the brown wire. But that wasnt holding a constant charge and the thermostat would just reboot everytime it tried to cut on the air. So I said forget it and put everything back to the way it was. I didnt want to spend $100 just for someone to come out and find 1 wire... so one day on Amazon I saw this power adapter. This was the perfect solution. I have an electrical outlet right below my thermostat. I drilled a hole through the inside back of the outlet to run the cable through to the AC closet, then ran the cable up, put another whole for the cable to go through the wall to the thermo stat. After a little trial and error I found that the negative cable goes on the RC and the positive goes to the C. Attached are some pics of the install and how i wired my ecobee. Hope this helps some of you. ... show more

  • Do not add jumper for nest 4 wires only
I cant thank you guys enough for making this transformer/ adapter. I have 3rd gen Nest and I had only 4 wires. Yellow, white, Red and Green I was missing a Blue wire Aka C common wire to charge the nest.I am using Nest to control my heating and cooling system both. It worked for two years just fine but then I started having low battery issues in nest thermostat and sometime entire system would shutoff and delayed message would pop up. For my system settings I hope this would help many people. I connected one wire from transformer to C and 2nd wire from transformer to RC Along with the Red Wire. And it worked. I have uploaded some pictures for you guys if anyone need help if you are running heating and cooling both thru nest and you have 4 wire do not use the jumper you only need to connect your wires to RC and C thats it. ... show more

  • Saved The Day
Super happy with this product. I didn’t have an existing C wire for hooking up my new Wi-Fi smart thermostat. I’ve been wanting one for a long time. It gets hot in my bedroom, and who wants to get out of bed and walk downstairs to adjust the thermostat when you’re trying to sleep? I wasn’t even aware I didn’t have one until I went to install the new thermostat. It’s my first experience wiring up a thermostat, so it was a great learning experience. The C wire is basically a 24v power supply for your newer thermostats. My home is pretty old, it originally had an old style thermostat with a mercury switch. This thing is easy to wire up, it has two wires, you can use either one to send power to the C input and the other one, for me, had to go into RC. Which I assume must be for grounding. The length of the cable was more than adequate for me. Getting the wire to my thermostat wasn’t easy. I have a hole in my wall, the wires run behind the wall and down into the basement where there’s a small hole in the floor boards. I can’t believe I pulled it off, but it actually worked and it didn’t even take long with some help from my daughter. I took some fishing line and connected a lead sinker to the end and poked that through the hole in the wall. It dropped down onto the floor and I had my daughter move it around until I could see it, and grab it with a set of very narrow needle nose pliers. Once I had it into the basement I wrapped up the C wires and zip tied them so the couldn’t come lose and pulled it back up through the wall. It actually worked. I ended up running the wires along the ceiling of my basement and plugging it into an outlet down there against the wall so it can’t accidentally get yanked out of the outlet. Now I can change the temperature of my thermostat without needing to get out of bed. This thing worked perfectly for me, I have only a small amount of experience wiring and I was able to get this done perfectly and safely. The price is fair. Saved the day for me. ... show more

  • Adds a C-Wire for your Smart Thermostat
I specifically bought a smart thermostat that didn't require a C-Wire because I was worried about the installation. I wish I'd have known about this thing before I did. As it turns out, the thermostat we bought (Emerson Sensi) can run on batteries, but disables it's own wifi radio when the batteries reach 75% fullness to save their power. This means you're either changing batteries constantly or you've got a mostly-dumb thermostat. Then here comes this product to the rescue. It took about 3 minutes to install, super easy. Took more time to find the screwdriver than it did to actually put it all together. We haven't had a wifi drop since installing, and it just works so perfectly. I can highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't got a c-wire. ... show more

  • Works with Honeywell RTH9585WF
I have an old house, and wanted to update my thermostat. My furnace didn't have a c-wire run to the old thermostat, so looking for a solution I found this adapter. It works perfectly so far with my Honeywell RTH9585WF. Installation took about 5 minutes. The wire is very long, so if you have a decent amount to go from an outlet to the thermostat this shouldn't be an issue. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the wire is very thin, it's so thin that it won't clamp into place. If the wire was bigger installation would take about 1 minute and this would be a 5 star product. ... show more
