  • Works great so far .
Color: Brown
It’s a pretty small sensor in physical size and works surprisingly well . I’m controlling a 70 watt LED floodlight . The range of the detection is remarkably far . It’s only been installed for a little more than a week but it works exceptionally well . I certainly would recommend this product , you can’t beat the price either ! ... show more

  • Nice Angular Range, but Stem Needs Extension for Extreme (near 180 deg) Horiz. Angles
Color: White
This was ordered to replace a PAR spotlight fixture motion sensor which had a ball joint that constrained the center of detection to about a 30-45 deg. range relative to a vertical drawn to the mounting wall. Since the building wall was ran perpendicular to an entry zone that should light up responsive to motion, and the entry zone was about 20 ft. away, the existing sensor could not be turned to face the entry zone and was insensitive to motion because the entry area was at an extreme angle with respect to the sensor (e.g. the sensor did not turn the light on). This product provides a much greater solid angle for sensing because the stem can rotate 360 deg. with respect to the body of the light housing where it is attached, and the (screw) joint allows the sensor to turn freely in an independent perpendicular plane. Even so, the motion/range of this sensor remains limited because the joint about which the sensor turns (e.g. the stem length) is only about 1.5" from the supporting body of the light (e.g. the mounting flange and wall), so that the relatively large dimensions (body) of the sensor interfere (block) with being able to turn it toward large (60-90 deg) angles in a direction almost parallel (tangential) to the wall on which the light is mounted. Fortunately, the design of this sensor allows a solution to the problem of turning the sensor to access large (near 90 deg) angles. The thread at the base of the sensor is compatible with standard 1/2"-14 pipe thread. Accordingly, a piece of standard threaded 1/2" PVC ("nipple") pipe with a small 1/2" pipe coupling (ubiquitously available) can extend the sensor arm to provide room for the sensor to rotate 180 deg (or more) without interfering with the base of the spotlight or mounting wall. Accordingly, this product (with the addition of a small 1/2" PVC pipe extension ) solves the problem of sensing distal motion that is close to the mounting wall (nearly 90 deg. perpendicular to the wall). ... show more

  • Excellent Coverage, Limited Power Capacity
Color: Black
Extremely wide detection area, reliably triggering motion detections up to about 30 feet away, with slightly less reliability extending to 60 feet. Installation is straightforward, especially with Wago lever nuts or similar connectors; however, the small, stranded wires are less compatible with traditional twist-on wire nuts. While the build quality might feel somewhat budget with its thin plastic, particularly around the lens, durability seems to be fine. I've had around a dozen of these in use for nearly three years, and they all continue to perform reliably. These sensors can be wired to a single light or set up in an array for multiple lights. For the latter, use wire with at least three conductors plus ground, like 12/3 or 14/3 NM-B. Connect the red wire from the motion sensors to the red wire in the cable, which then serves as the hot connection to each light. With this setup, any motion detection by any sensor activates all lights. The main downside is the low power rating: only 72 watts for LEDs (0.6 amps at 120 volts) versus 300 watts for incandescent lights. This discrepancy in ratings based on light type is puzzling and limits the application for larger or more extensive lighting setups. I wish there were versions with higher current capacities suitable for large outdoor lighting arrays. ... show more

  • Adds level of security to existing can lights in my garage eaves.
Color: Black
My house has an extended eave of a couple feet that extends over my double garage doors. They have can lights that are recessed into the soffit. I like the lights, but the only way to currently turn them on is from inside the house or inside the garage. My kids and visitors park in the driveway and sometimes arrive after dark. I am installing this sensor in-line between the interior switch and the lights themselves. This way, I can leave the interior switch on all the time or after dark and the motion sensor will kick on the lights when triggered. They will shut off (so I don't forget or have to monitor them) after my visitors or kids leave and won't be left on all night. The sensor has good instructions, but only has one plastic "nut" to screw in if you are using a junction box. In my case, I am putting it under the soffit to protect it from the elements. I'll have to pick up a steel junction box with an additional grommet to make sure the wiring is closed in and protected. I'll update my review later if I run into any issues with the sensitivity or operation of the sensor itself. ... show more

  • Great add on motion sensor
Color: Black
I have a really nice porch light fixture, I like it and it's well made with quality materials yet I wanted it to have motion sensing features. This motion sensor was the perfect add to do that. The base of my lamp fixture is an inch in depth so I was able to take a hole saw and make a holt to accept the motion sensor. I did not have to worry about moisture entry as there is an overhand above my porch, but I know you can get the sealing type lock washers that come with a silicone band that will be helpful if you have a more exposed location. Always better in your making a hole on the underside of your fixture too. This replacement motion sensor is a nice quality and easily adjustable sensitivity. My goal was for the unit to come on automatically when I came out on the porch to walk my dog and I have the sensitivity set low so a passing car does not trigger and works perfect. Great replacement motion sensor or in my case an add-on. Fast shipping ... show more
