In addition, there are three 3/8" threaded holes (M8 countersunk holes) with a spacing of 35mm (1.38") in each slot.

Nothing to dislike about it. It's machined for standard photo thread. This is for an Orion Goto mount and it makes it so refractor tube rings will mate to the mount. I can also use it for a short focus 6" telescope (f/4) for wide field astrophotography.
