  • Set up was easy, all functions work, but peculiar smell when operating
I ordered this and got it two days later. It was well packed, and after unboxing, assembly/setup was pretty easy. I did check to make sure that the fuel like was not kinked or smashed, as some have mentioned this in reviews in other similar heaters. After fueling and priming the heater, it started up, with a good heat output. I had the Bluetooth option, and was able to pair with my phone, and Bluetooth appears to work as expected. I also paired with the included remote, and found that I could control the heater from inside my house (I mounted it in my workshop). I'd give the heater an initial 5 stars, but I found that once it started, there was an odd odor - something like burning or very hot plastic, and I got a headache. I'm going to get a CO monitor and see what that shows, but I don't have any other symptoms of CO poisoning. I think that there may be some kind of oil or other contaminant that is getting burned off, so if things improve, I'll update this review. I've also sent a message to the vendor to see what they say about it. Overall, it seems to be working well, but the smell concerns me. [edit 1/21/25] I upgraded to 5 stars - the smell went away after a few hours of running. Also, fuel consumption was low - I have run mostly on high for a couple of hours to get the shop warm, then drop to level 1 or 2 for when I'm working. After several days of this, with outside temps in the teens at night and mid 30's to mid 40's during the day, I still have used only about 2/3 of a tank of fuel. I probably have 12+ hours of runtime, with probably 8 hours at high level. It is so nice to have a warm shop in which to work! ... show more

  • Works great with correct power supply.
I needed this to plug into a 120 outlet. I bought and returned so many power supplies and the thing just would not run. Kept getting errors. Finally I purchased the right sized power supplies and converters and wow does this thing put out some heat! I didn’t smell any diesel fuel whatsoever. Nice heater. ... show more

  • Did not work out of the box
I work with this type of heater in big trucks. I am familiar with how the operate. The heater did not work out of the box. The first thing I found was the pump not working because the plug wasn't clicked in. After fixing the pump, it still wouldn't fire. The control board was bad. I got another board and it fired up. My other problem with it is the poor quality fuel line. It has a soft fuel line, should be a hard line. Air pockets build up in the bend. Next time I'll buy a different brand. ... show more

  • Seems to be identical to more expensive heaters.
Size: All in one 5KW
I was fortunate when I ordered 3 of these 5k/8k diesel heaters because they were on sale for just under $100 ea. Assembly is rather easy, the exhaust goes on the front down pipe and combustion air on the back down pipe. Attach the muffler to one end of the exhaust pipe and connect the air filter to one end of the combustion hose. I used a deep well socket to wiggle around inside bothe the exhaust and combustion hose to enlarge the openings slightly for easier insertion on heater outlets. Having the cover off and the heater raised up makes it easier to tight the clamps. There was only one exhaust clamp included so I used it at the heater connection. I didn't clamp at the muffler. I definitely recommend testing the unit outside very smelly. Battery plus/minus are clearly defined. Add fuel, connect your battery. Hold both the up & down arrow buttons to prime the heater, you will hear the pump start to click. With the cover still off, check for fuel moving in the fuel lines. Once you see fuel in the pumps output line release buttons. Be careful not to over prime heater. Press and hold the start/stop button until unit starts & release. The fan should start & the pump shortly afterwards. I tested all 3 heaters the first ran right away after assembly. It comes with a nice book in several languages. Poor assembly instructions but not especially complicated. I suggest building a stand to raise the heater as much as 6 inches above the legs to make room for exhaust and combustion intake hoses. Remove the case with 4 snap latche's and inspect fuel lines for kinks. The lines that come with the heater seem to kink with the sharp bends required in their routing. Only one of my 3 heaters had kinks in the lines, so I took some slightly larger stiff line I had and slid the hose in it to encase the kinks. Temporarily fix. It's been recommended to replace these fuel lines with a stiffer line. However I've always had good luck with silicone fuel Ines so I ordered some of which if it works on the ones with kinked lines, I'll replace all fuel lines in all 3 heaters. After running one of the heaters on low temperature all night I found the heater off in the morning with a fuel error. There was still plenty of fuel so it must have failed during the night. Holding both the up & down arrow buttons is how you prime the heater but there was no sound from the pump. So I contacted Amazon and asked for a replacement. Replacement was not available so Amazon refunded me the price I paid plus tax to my credit card. The second pump has now been running all night, I'll be checking on its status shortly and revise this review accordingly. I have since ordered me a couple of spare fuel pumps and a couple of glo plugs. About the only other thing I can see that might fail on these heaters would be the control board. I'll probably look info ordering at least one of those. I believe these style heaters are identical. Some may be built with better components, I don't know, but I believe all are probably made at the same factory and stamped with different names. Just my opinion because they look and run identically. ... show more
