Massage chair made to impress!

I’ve waited a few months to write my review in order to really road test it first. Overall it’s a high quality chair a step above the rest, and easily matches/exceeds some of the chairs that are double the price. Here’s my breakdown of the chair’s highlights. Pros: -Dual massage heads is the most notable feature, getting a constant butt massage while the other goes to town on the back/neck. -Personally my favorite feature is the foot massage that fully engulfs your feet with nice bottom rollers. It also stretches your feet down which I haven’t seen before but it’s nice. Also love the back calf massage after long runs. -Love the arm airbags, I always put it up to the strongest setting and they give a good squeeze. -Tons of preset programs, fully modifiable or can even do a manual settings mode. Also a nice feature is that once you’ve adjusted the settings to your liking you can save it and come back to it at the press of a button. I’ve definitely fallen asleep many times on the sweet dreams mode. -Sleek design, side lights, intuitive touch screen, space saving recline, quiet operation Cons: -As mentioned in other reviews it tends to be narrower than the average chair. Even though it’s rated up to 300 pounds, some of my larger friends and family over about 220 pounds could hardly fit their hips in and have room to slip their arms in the slots. -As with any massage chair it can be a little rough for some people. Especially the Chinese or Thai program was becoming quite painful on the knees/back and I had to abort. Sometimes on the shoulder airbags lock you into place while the back massager is digging into your shoulder blade or something and it can feel a little torturous, hah. -Similarly I would have liked the side calf massagers to be positioned a little lower. Currently they mostly squeeze the side of your knees, which feels ok but it’s not on the calf muscle. Also some people have complained that the foot squeezers pinch the back of the foot too hard along the achilles, though it’s not as bad with socks on. -Not a huge deal but the head pillow seems to sag too low, I always have to lift it up in order to enjoy the shoulder massage. -Side airbags along the flanks don’t really help much, would have preferred them at the hip level. -I was hoping this had a good stretch mode like other chairs I’ve tried but so far I haven’t found one. -In terms of tech, the Bluetooth is a little annoying in that you have to manually turn it on each time. But the speakers are nice quality. It would be nice if there were some pre-programmed relaxing music or nature sounds built into the chair. -The “AI” voice recognition is tricky to figure out and remember all the voice commands, and sometimes it randomly talks without anyone saying anything, so I just disabled the feature completely. Again overall this is a very nice chair and checked most of the boxes I was looking for. Nice balance of value and higher end features. The vast majority of my guests enjoy it too. Really Good!

My first massage chair was the New York Times Wirecutter recommended one (Osaki OS Champ), and it caused pain on shoulder blades. Because Osaki was so highly recommended, I wanted to give it a fair trial. Well, because of the limitation of 2D technology, for a skinny person like me not much improvement could be possible after trying everything that could be adjusted. It probably is a wonderful chair for many, but not for me. So, I returned it after one week. Then, with a benefit of doubt, after initial disappointment of massage chairs in general, I wanted to try a second massage chair. To my surprise, from the very beginning this chair, Alfine A688, was so comfortable and satisfactory to force me write this review. There was clear difference between 2D and 4D technology. 4D rollers in this chair seems to conform to the shape of my neck and shoulder. After body scanning when turned on, it finds neck and shoulder precisely and adjust width to fit my neck and shoulder muscle. It was an amazing feeling. Also, while upper body is being massaged, buttock and lower back is worked on at the same time. The moniker "Heavenly Duet" is what precisely describes the effect. I sit on computer desk fourteen hours per day normally. I ended up in the chair most of my free time last one week. Each time I use it, I fall asleep on it and wake up after massage is completed. I tried more than half of the auto presets already. Most of them were satisfactory. Thai massage was slightly painful to my knees because it stretches legs while squeezing knee area a bit too strong. I believe this could be adjusted, but I did not try it yet. I hope this massage chair lasts long without breaking. It looks premium compared to the first chair I had. Warranty is for 3 years. I hope they can extend the warranty longer even with extra cost. I saw their highest model a860 has 5 year warranty, instead of 3. Because a860 has leather upholstery and expendable frame, I was so much tempted to buy that one. But, I am so satisfied at this point with A688 and will keep this one. ... show more

It’s good for the most part

I have a massage chair at my office and wanted one for my home. I looked for one that has everything the one at work has plus more. Well start with the positives The full coverage foot is a big deal. The one I have at work has open feet and it’s not nearly as good The automatic leg extender, also a big deal. The one I have at work I need to actively push to keep the legs straight, it’s very annoying The 2 sets of rollers, big deal. The one I have at work only has 1 set of rollers but it’s a bit of a trade off we’ll get to later in the review. So the negatives if you will I’m not big. I’m 5’8, maybe my shoulders are a little broad. But the shoulders on this thing are firmly annoying. They are too low and apply force at an annoying angle. Maybe my torso is long idk. The shoulders are adjustable but only to be more narrow but idk who that is for. Maybe a child or a really narrow person. The shoulders on this one push you inward. The one I have at work push down into the chair. Work one definitely wins here The arms are short. Again, I’m not big. But at a normal position the area for the hands is exerting force in my wrists. Not my hands The waist airbags don’t really do anything The dual rollers. My one at work has 1 set of rollers, but they are “4d” for the whole distance. So the lower back and butt get a better massage but they only get massaged very seldom. Versus on this they are always being massaged To surmise, it’s better in most areas but not perfect. Probably the best chair on the market right now. I’m sure one that cost 3x as much isn’t even 1.5x better. So just get this one. But it’s not perfect. Just the best available If you’re a girl or a short narrow man it’s probably perfect. Other points real quick. Some assembly required. Very easy. Screen is very intuitive and simple to understand, big plus vs the one I have at work. Love it
I purchased this chair July 2024. I decided to write this review because I still use it almost every day. My husband and children also use it occasionally and we still love it. I love playing my music through it. It has a nice stretch mode as well as many other nice options. The talk feature has never really worked correctly but not really needed. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MASSAGE CHAIR. First of all, the delivery communication is awful. They told us that someone will call to schedule the delivery at least 1 day before. Two weeks later, someone finally called and said that they were outside our house. No one was home at the time so we rescheduled for another day. When the appointment day came, no one showed up. No one called. Someone finally delivered three days later. Again no calls; just showed up outside our door. Thankfully, my son was home at the time. When we finally assembled everything by following the video tutorial, the calf massage function, footrest airbag, foot rollers, voice control, and Bluetooth were all NOT WORKING! On top of that, this massage chair was falsely advertised as having a yoga stretch function. This function is non-existent! We are currently in the process of communicating with customer support to see what they can do. To be honest, we just really want to return this thing and hopefully get a full refund. Great Chair with many functions!

This chair is remarkable! It has 20 programs built in, and has the capability to customize a high number of programs to fit most needs. I opted for the custom, white glove set-up, but it appears to be relatively easy to do-it-yourself if you're so inclined. Within minutes of setup I was relaxing in the chair and going through one of the built in programs. The workings are very quiet, but powerful, and the enclosed foot massage is most relaxing. It does have a narrower shell, but even wider bodies can fit in this chair without discomfort. The 4D/3D combination is wonderful and the zero gravity feature gives you the best of both worlds. It took me a long time to research and decide what chair to buy. I’m glad that I did my due diligence and purchased this one. It’s an excellent massage, well built chair. I have no complaints. Buy this chair. You will be bragging to everyone about it. You are going to lalalalove it! Treat yo self. ❤️ I used to treat myself to a massage therapist for an hour and a half each month but the spa prices are real expensive, and then there’s tipping too. Also realized I was totally relaxed when the spa massage ended but also totally oily and half asleep. Then I’d have to go out into the Minnesota cold and drive home in snow; not exactly relaxing. Now, I can get any massage I want, any time of day or night. I keep falling asleep in the chair. It’s very very very comfortable. 🤤 My family loves the chair. Friends love the chair. House rule is adults can use it and our kids can too, but nobody else’s kids are allowed. 😏 ... show more

Excellent with a few quirks
First off I would like to say that this Machine is amazing and has made a huge difference in my sleep. I have been in pain for years due to some injuries I sustained while in the Marines. With that said, there are a few quirks I wanted to bring to light. 1. The seat seems like it would be better if it were 4 to 6 inches deeper. With my legs extended my calf muscles do not seat correctly. When the rollers for the calves are massaging they barely touch my calves. In order to get them to work properly I need to lay back the chair, fold the leg extension all the way down and increase the air pressure for the legs. 2. Saving settings is confusing because it does not allow you to name the save settings. And you are only permitted to save three settings. Each time I get into the chair I need to adjust settings to get everything into the correct position. 3. Not able to connect the blue tooth prior to starting the massage. Then you need to wait until the arm pressure releases to get the your arm back into position. It would be great to have the option to set everything up and then press "Go". Then to have a 3 to 5 second countdown to get everything into place before the massage starts. 4. When the massage is over the chair does not reset back to the starting position. I need to press on the controller for the chair to set back up and release my legs so I can get out. 5. They don't tell you in the instructions but you have 2 pads for your head. You can flip them back or simply remove them if you want a deeper neck or shoulder massage. You also have a heating pad that you can pull across your chest to get heat to your chest. I had to learn this from watching a You Tube video. 6. Would be nice if there was a video to show all the tricks. ... show more
