  • Want to love
Capacity: 40 GB 4800MHz RAM | 1 TB PCIe SSD Color: WQXGA | i9-12900H | RTX 3070 Ti
Edit: Asus has some quality control issues. The crackling audio sound couldn't seem to be resolved so I ended up returning my unit. I wanted to give it another shot so I picked up one from my local Best Buy. The display was defective as shown in the photo I included with dead pixels. I tried one more time and the third unit doesn't appear to have any audio crackling sound or weird display issues. Although, it has more blacklight bleed than the other two, even the one with the defective display. Going through three units I also discovered not all of them have solid trackpads. Some have a slight rattle when tapped than others. The quality control seems to be very poor with these unites. I'm trying to hold onto the third unit I had but hoping nothing crops up. Still loath the soft touch which shows oil marks within a week of owning it that cannot be cleaned up. However, I love the overall design, i9 processor, beautiful display (although some backlight bleed), and performance has otherwise been great. Original: There is so much to love about this laptop but there are a few things that just make it hard to love completely. First something everyone should know: there is a known issue with some units having a strange crackling/popping sound coming from what appears to be the speakers. Some found the cause in an update for the wifi card by rolling it back to an older version. I have not had such luck. Asus customer care was willing to take it in but it would take them possibly over a month to get it back to me. Due to my job, I cannot be without it for that long. (Also, for some reason my serial number said that my unit was sold from Best Buy even though it was purchased here on Amazon.) I needed a relatively small, lightweight, portable, powerful machine, with a great display for video editing and light gaming. In that regard, this laptop checks all the boxes very well. Except maybe portability when you only get a maximum of 5 hours of battery life. However, I can manage that for my needs. What makes this laptop hard to love, besides the subtle crackling/popping sound from the speakers that hopefully can be resolved, is honestly the longevity of its design. This model uses a soft touch material for the outer coating where you rest your palm. For how good this laptop looks, it loses those looks within a few days of use from all the oil it shows, and I have relatively dry hands. If they had stuck with what they had been using successfully in prior models, or the AMD line, this could have been avoided. Sadly, they don't give you any options when choosing the intel specs for the 2022 model. The small holes on the front also can get plugged with debris, destroying its stylish outer top cover. This laptop has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it and then some. However, due to the price point, it is difficult to justify keeping it when its outer appearance degrades so immediately after owning it. If you're going to spend roughly two thousand five hundred dollars (for the model I chose) it would be nice for it to actually look acceptable for a little while let alone years to come. Side note, the fans are indeed super loud when on performance or turbo. Reaching almost 60db. However, I only need that performance when rendering a project or gaming in which circumstances the noise hasn't been too much of an issue. I really like this laptop, but if you going to spend this much money on a laptop I think there are some better design choices out there that will serve you better in the long run. ... show more

  • Superb. F windows11 and myasus app not working
Capacity: 24 GB 4800MHz RAM | 1 TB PCIe SSD Color: WQXGA | i9-12900H | RTX 3070 Ti
Last update. I seemd to have fixed all issues. Seems to be based on the laptop not handling usb hubs and displays well and one very faulty program that made me crash. Also turbo mode can make ur laptop crash at some point. I never get a bsod though only just crashes when isong a bad program or laptop was hot too long on turbo. My only problem is sleep mode after using displays and usb hub causes laptop to crash in its sleep. If I dont use these devices the laptop doesnt seem to crash in its sleep. Like wth They allowed my laptop to have the motherboard replaced under warranty even though I opened the laptop to install a second ssd and to recover my data (and scramble the sensitive ones) before sending it back. Shipping took about a week because theyre in california, which is as far as can be from me. The computer deserves more stars but f microsoft really we need to fight them Update 16 I was told by hidevolution and several repair men that windows 11 pushed the bios Update and something else made the laptop shut off. My guess is the power button was probably pressed two times but it decided to take the command 5 seconds later. That makes no sense like how tf? And windows u piece of trash… how can thhey push bios Update without consent? That has to be done when safe and not when im trying to plboot my laptop.. Now I have a broken bios and willl have to wait for repair… im switching to windows 10.. I just hope it doesnt affect max performance because I dont know if armory crate will work and myasus Also hidevolution responded rather quickly soba few stars but seriously wth Update 15 This time it crashed for no apparent reason. I used only 2 monitors instead of 3 . had to force shut it down. Then when I turn it on .. It decides to do a bios Update then shut itself off before it finishes.. Wtf. 2 months of constant BS because of windows and these intrusive updates. Im switching to windows 10 after this bS.. AND reducing stars to 0 until it is fixed… I have fkn school and now I gotta switch back Update 14 So far my main problems are that the laptop freezes permanently without a bsod screen to show an error code. This seems to happen when the laptop overheats with one game but in my usual case now it's not hot at all. All I do is run 3 external monitors 10 pdf files . 10 active with 60 inactive ones and a bunch of folder windows and some document windows and sometimes music or a video. It shouldnt be causing crashes. Now I was going to set my max battery capacity to 100% but for some freason I cant because myasus app wont start no matter what. Tf? Also when I wake the laptop from sleep, I have to unplug and replug an effing monitor to make itbwork. Also sometimes it turns on by itself and either shuts off or restarts . fkyou windows 11. Mf trash. Sometimes it even gets hot during sleep (rarely). Sounds like S3 might fail at times. They need to fking back off with this privacy invasion sht. I suggest glasswire and who knows what else because who know if glasswire is programmed to hide windows privacy invasion. Seriously fkoff my laptop and bring back s3 sleep. No need for that hybrid BS Update 13: leaving the laptop on normal power settings from within armory crate is the quietest option but when you run a super strong program for about 90 minutes that uses most of the GPu, it will throttle and possibly end up shutting the computer. You will need turbo mode for best gaming/video/processing power. And maybe a cooling pad. I got one with like 6 fans under it and it draws power from 2 usbs. I advise u to use a cooling pad to increase the life of your plastic internal laptop fans:) Seriously.. Wth with windows 11 having conflicts with other programs. It's obvious they were tired and didnt do their work.. Not to mention thumbnails dont appear on folders to preview pictures inside. FyOU windows11. Remember to make microsoft bring back s3 sleep and never ever let them turn it off and not make it an option. Theyre trying to hard code computers to be incompatible with windows 11. Unacceptable. It almost burned my expensive computer. Remember to read my other tips about how to configure this laptop . Also you'll have to orgabize ur program shortcuts into folders Update12: you NEED armory crate to INCREASE MAX PERFORMANCE BUT it will put you on high fan most of the time for some reason? I have yet to fully understand. Setting it to windows settings (even at high performace) willNOT bring out the MAX PERFORMANCE of this laptop. Wow.. I been playing on lower pperformance mode amd still was able to max out high end games but just wow powerful laptop dude Update 11: tf I cant run my monitors at 75 and 165hz anymore except for 1. It's just 165 60 and 60. Apparently intel software (disolay settings) and windows 11 iare handling it while nvidia doesnt know much and is probably conflicting with the other two. Bs. Windows 11 and these softwares are BS but the hardware is amazing and worth having. We really need to prepare for what is comming. They can easily tell this hybrid sleep trsh is BS because it really did make my laptop HOT and unsafe. S3 will always be the best sleep option.. Especially since we are using ddr5 not ddr4. If your laptop has ddr4, I dunno if the registry hack will work for you because it is possible that microsoft didnt account for ddr5 since it is new and maybe that is why it works for me. They are trying to remove s3 legacy sleep which is the best. Hibernation is great but it will kill your ssd. They dont even let u hibernate. They only allowed hybrid sleep. Now again… I can confirm that something about usb hubs and various memory and inout devices cause the laptop to wake up and endlessly maintain a turbo fan on alllll the time until u shut down It's as if it had some miscommunication and then something got stuck on loop. You wont find this error tracing on google. Doesnt seem like people know. I only recently posted about it somewhere. I love this laptop. It needs more dedicated monitor ports that at least support 165 hz each and I really love the micro sd slot. It's just too bad the screen is so perfectky bezeless that you cant use it with an airtouch device to turn the screen to touch screen. There probably is no better laptop for school in terms of speed and even battery if u know how to control it. You'll need to disable startup and services u dont need.. Perferrably with avg tune up. There are things u shouldnt sleep either or it causes issues too. I had to reinstall things from scratch but the laptop is so fast it's at least 2x faster than my previous gaming laptop. Oh another tip. Just copy your app shortcuts into category folders on ur desktop since we dont have cateogrized icons on the start uo menu. BS right? This reminds me of the time a school thought it was a great idea to give kids lunchables (alot less food than usual) because of the hype from luncheables. Here I see windows 11 copying MACos interface a bit. Dumb. Mac stinks. It is the new blackberry. It wont let u do as much and it doesnt habe support in some situations. Update 10: you need to really update armory crate to ensure it doesnt have a communication problem with the fans and then it is loud all the time. I think also starting up witht a usb hub connected to many things causes problems at times. Man I am tired of trying to fix and or prevent so mamy problems This is an amazing laptop but windows 11 and various softwares are conflicting with how it should run. Windows 11 should never make the laptops incompatible with s3 sleep mode. Dont let them it is BS. It has been an annoying week trying to solve all problems. Summary: you need to tinker with settings with nvidia, windows power managenent, intel, windows display, disable armory crate or set it to use windows power management, do updates before anything, and use a registry hack to enable legacy s3 sleep mode. Ill include registry hack in a picture. And just so u know.. I am on turbo mode and laptop is quiet. I am no longer having heat up issues during sleep. However I think laptop sometimes crashes and restarts because of the registry hack. Im unsure but hey its better than being connected to the internet and letting microsoft do crap while ur pc is supposively sleeping. Bs. Nothing should be on during sleep 💤. Nothing should be hot. They claim hybrid sleeo is better. Nope Update 9: holy mf armory crate, which comes with this computer , has been causin high FAN issues. I dont know why but I put it to sleep and the constant fan noises have STOPPED. HOLY FFF. We cant even trust software that comes with our computers. I made it use the windows power profile instead because it just doesnt really handle things properly .. Apparently.. I was on my computer for hours trying to read and delete and install different things to find out armor crate js the issue. Update 8: holy pos mf windows11 with their privacy-invading "modern" sleep. The original power saving mode is gonna KIll you battery and laptop in general with the high heat from sleep. You will see that Standby sleeo (s3) is disabled . i tried a registry hack and it seemed to work but i have to test more as school begins soom for me. This laptop comes with CONNECTED SLEEP AS DEFAULT. IT LETS BACKGROUND PROCESSES AND NETWORK(INTERNET) ON DURING SLEEP. HUGE PRIVACY ISSUE AND SECURTUY AND BATTERY ISSUE TF. S3 legacy standby simply saves work to the ram. THE DEFAULT SETTINGS SAVES IT TO UR DRIVE. 9GB of data written on ur ssd EVERY TIME U SLEEP IT TOO LONG. I JUST FOUND MY LAPTOP HOT during sleep 💤. What kind of BS is that tf. For the registry hack I forgot the site but ill tell u later. I have yet to monitor. You also NEED TO UPDATE ADVANCED POWER SAVINGS WHEN "CLOSING THE LID " AND SUCH BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT WANT SOME SOECIFIC THINGS TO HAPPEN OR WORK DURING SLEEP. Tell microsoft to fbehave and be ready for war because there is a big privacy problem happening and we need privacy until the world is perfect enough to process us properly. Update7: i managed to connect 3 external monitors through hdmi and 2 usb c. Seems the 2 usb c ports are capable of 165hz 2k each @and hdmi 144hz máx. Nvidia has trouble detecting the laptop monitor and one other monitor so it seems u can't add more than 1 if u don't want this error. I dunno who is to blame here. Probably windows 11 for not communicating properly with nvidia. But imma have to write 📝 to them However the refresh rates are fine but I can't use nvidia to fine tune my other monitors.. And I am extending to each of them.. Not cloning. Still this is great… now I just need to take time to test the battery 🔋 and energy profiles.. Update 6: I'm just gonna add that the fan turns up pretty high often. But I'm on performance mode. In your case if u put it on silent 😶 it. Will be more quiet and just throttle itself as it should but I'm also running 🏃 slot of tabs and shop is demanding Also i should add this has Dolby Atmos fir the laptop the headphones 🎧 and ur theater 🎭 setup and something called Dolby vision I showed what your Dolby settings should probably kind of look like. No profile is very perfect if u ask me Update 5: when it sleeps, it makes a light static noise. I believe it is the ddr5 ram because sleep mode uses the ram to save your work instead of your hard drive (hibernation) which would break ur ssd eventually so sleep 💤 is better but it uses more electricity but just how much battery 🔋 is being used :/? Also for some goddam reason this laptop has trouble adding 3 monitors. Hdmi will only give u up to 144hz and I think that might be a hardware limit or is it an OS limit too? Usb will give u more. It can give me 2k@165hz but there is a second usb that can only provide 60hz of whatever ur playing. Or I think it might confuse the other monitors into 60hz. When I go to nvidia settings, I find that only one monitor is detected and all other monitors (including the laptop monitor( are not detected. What the hell. I waited for windows 11 to get their sh together and this happens? I'll tell you the importance of multiple monitors. Basically it lets u monitor things like unwanted hackers and temperatures and processes and lets u keep things to a side while you make connections between ideas because the moment u minimize and wait for a window to close, ur brain can lose what it is building between different sources of info. It really is necessary to have multiple monitors when u do homework. At least 2but 4 is best or anything like it. And with minimal eye 👁️ travel. Also for some reason, disabling aura wall paper disables the power saving profiles switch button 🔘 that works with the fn key. If u put it on turbo it will run 🏃 the laptop at Max power and blow the fan hard whenever it can. But windows also has their own interface for changing the power profiles. Using both can confuse windows11.. At least it can play demanding games at full quality while being smooth. Also don't forget about nvidia per program settings or else u will misjudge the laptop. Update4: this can play a demanding badly coded game called "7days to die" well at Max quality. That's alot of power It can run a demanding motion smoothing video player at 165hz and max quality from a 4k video and not lag when u do anything else. It will run 🏃 hot without the turbo fan but I have a cooling fan pad for it It does it's job well and does everything snappy I think the last guy who reviewed either had a lemon 🍋 or didn't update. Always update nvidia and the per-program graphics settings for apps that aren't running smoothly. Some apps are handled by windows instead of nvidia. If u are a newd or noob then ur going to misjudge most computers lol Update 3: actually it can play 4k videos with smooth video player (svp) at maxed out settings while still under a remarkably small load of like 21%-23%. A laptop with gddr5 and ddr4 with 6gbvram and i7 (quad core?) can't handle it. This one can Just make sure to always adjust your nidia graphics settings for each demanding application or else it will be limited by nvidia or Windows 11 too also has a limiter. Still haven't tried a demanding game but 7days to die works way faster than on a more regular pc.. Works rather instantly Update 2: This is a big step above the asus rog g752 which was already a powerhouse that still works tiene to this day but it cant run 4k videos through a Motion smoothing program called SvP. This laptop com at almost maxed out quality settings after updates and proper settings. That is ALOT of power The other laptop was around $1300 if u were lucky to find it at that price. It is fast but this one fails 3 times faster. For some reason my ddr4 ram performs under 2000mhz while this laptop states a 4800 mhz. It is a big difference that makes everything u do snappy.. Just how a laptop should be. Hence why I chose this laptop. It doesn't heat up too much but it will with games. You might want to buy a strong cooling pad for it and place it up somewhere with one of those monitor stands. Now Im not doing benchmarks. One annoying thing about windows 11 is it wants u to use an email 📤 and backup email 📤 which I prepared in advanced. The sound 🔉 on this laptop is about as good as the big laptop I have which has its own subwoofer and 2 big speakers in it. The backlighting of the keyboard is dumb. The keys aren't individually lighted. I feel like the asus software is trying to make some functions seem more special than they are. They are trying. Lame. Cringe. Screen is almost borderless. Weight is fine unless you are a concerningly weak girl.. No offense but it is probably a statistical fact that girls tend to fuss more about laptop weight since they're the only ones I have seen struggle with weight in various situations. Anywau, this laptop has Dolby access! Yes 👍 it makes the sound 🔉 very good if u set it right? And it feels physically and interactively smooth. I think it can last me about 12 hours but I haven't tested the battery enough. Only that under some normal use, it used like 2%-3% battery 🔋 per 15 minutes. Im unsure if the numbers are right tho but I calculated over 12 hours. And it was at above medium brightness 🔆 So this looks hopeful. Keyboard ⌨️ covers suck for this laptop. Buy a clear one to see the keys at night 🌃 Plenty of ports and 1 microsd slot. How fun. Oh spotify is working snappy regardless of the adblocker I got on it. Everything installs fast.. Makes me want to buy ssd from now on. No numberpad. No screen shot button. Only alt+f1 from nvidia after u activate or whatever. Sticky notes is still there. Super usueful I don't think solitaire will ever stop coming on these laptops lol. I have yet to play a demanding game on this laptop on ultra to see the big difference Update 1: still didn't receive buy I will say that FedEx missed me 3 times and I find it annoying that there is no update feature in when the package is nearby like Amazon delivieries. I was awake today and they didn't ring the bell. Yesterday they made a redelivery after telling me they won't. And the first delivery attempt came without a good warning. What the hell. I can't be putting my life on hold to wait for the dam package. Amazon should just take over fedex and their airplanes. The thermal paste they will add is a nice service that will likely make me buy from them again. I'd rather see them give us options on which paste to use. Anyway, this laptop comes in various versions per year model and has some harsh reviews from the other models and years but I don't think they ever tested the one with a ddr5 and good thermal paste. So I am hoping hidevolution picked out a great thermal paste since I'm dishing out $2.6k for this laptop. I was gonna buy a skin for it but the colorful top looks nice. There aren't enough ddr5 laptops but it is worth getting, especially for school 🏫. I'll update when I get the laptop. It better not disappoint. I would get a cooler for this laptop either way. And u should change thermal paste when the laptop has been cleaned but is heating up more than normal during regular activity ... show more
