I bought this Dell Inspiron 15 3510 laptop on June 2022 and I'm very disappointed with its performance. I mostly use it for genealogy research, streaming, and occasionally for work. This laptop is slow to start and shut down. It has locked up when I'm just trying to open a file folder in documents. I've updated the BIOS from Dell support and that sometimes helps, but then it gets a bad case of the slows. Avoid a lot of frustration and find a different laptop. ... show more

    • Slow, Underwhelming, and Overpriced -- But I've Had Worse

EDIT: for the past few days, this laptop keeps locking up and taking ages to restart, then running VERY slowly for several hours before it suddenly snaps out of it. I've been on a remote-assistance call with Dell (i.e. where they literally take control of your computer to try and fix it) and they're at a loss. It's definitely free and hasn't sustained any kind of spill or damage. Looks like it's just yet another case of Amazon selling a rotten lemon disguised as a laptop. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This isn't a BAD laptop but it's definitely not as good as it should be for this price, at these specs. I previously had a Lenovo Ideapad that cost the same and had less RAM, but could be woken out of hibernation in literally just a few seconds. This thing, though, sometimes needs several minutes just to "wake up," and sometimes refuses to wake up at all until you hit CNTRL ALT DEL. You also are NOT allowed to use it without a PIN. I tried removing the PIN, thinking that would speed it up, but it just forces you to slowly sign into Microsoft and verify every time, meaning you really have no choice but to use a PIN -- which, as anyone who knows about computers will tell you, actually provides no real security whatsoever. Very frustrating and bizarre. As for normal running operations, it's... OK. Not super-slow but definitely not the blazing-fast speed that's advertised. Also, the decision to place a calculator summoning key next to the DEL key is legit one of the dumbest engineering choices I've seen in ages. The whole design means you better get used to trying to correct a sentence and having to pause to close, like, three calculators. No matter what browser you use or how good your connection is, it's... pretty good. B- to B+, depending on how it feels on a given day. It also has tons of memory, which is nice -- but the RAM is nowhere near as efficient as it should be, to the point where it actually functions like a 4 GB RAM instead. It also keeps trying to force you to save to Onedrive, and even making it hard to tell whether you're actually saving it to a file in Onedrive or a file in your own PC, which is idiotic and aggravating. Overall, it's not really worth the price -- especially since you're also going to have to buy Office -- and not really much better than a $300 laptop, but again, it's not the worst. ... show more

This "brand new" computer acts like it's five years old. With 16gb of RAM, I'm shocked that it's freezing with minimal browser loads very frequently. Customer support does not answer the phone or respond to voicemails, and the email support team has been unhelpful thus far. I will never buy from this seller again. ... show more
