My past experience with these types of head units has been that they look nice but don’t function that great. After some positive reviews from fellow VW owners on the forums I decided to give it a try. It’s only been in for 4 days but I travel a good bit for work so it’s gotten quite a bit of use. So far no complaints. Not glitchy or laggy like I feared it may be. The wireless CarPlay is definitely the biggest factor for me. I can seamlessly change podcasts/music and switch back and forth to GPS, and I haven’t had any issues with it lagging or glitching out on me. The fit and finish in the dash is incredibly precise and while the wiring harness appears daunting it was actually pretty straightforward, it’s all plug and play. Took about 10 minutes for me to get it installed. There are some YouTube installation videos if you’re feeling a bit hesitant in that regard. My only incredibly minor complaint is that the listing stated there would be a discount if the dash cam, OBDII reader, and rear view cam would be discounted if coupled with the purchase of the head unit. I tried several times to add all three to my cart and proceed to checkout but because they weren’t discounted I just decided to get the head unit and the OBDII scanner. Overall, a solid product for the price IMO.

Easy to install, looks very nice. Unfortunately, it does not support wired Apple Carplay (seller confirmed after reaching out). The issue with wireless is that there is a 2 second delay between the phone and the head unit. If you press Pause, Play, Skip on the head unit, nothing happens for 2 seconds. This is especially painful when you want to fast-forward. Also, sometimes the phone would not connect when getting into the car. I never had it cut out while driving though. Finally, something I did not know I actually need - it has no knob for the volume. If you are driving and having the music on the blast, there is no way to quickly turn the volume down, you have to repetitively smash the button on the steering wheel (if you even have those buttons) or on the head unit, which is touch only and can be missed at times, it has no haptic feedback. And if you press Pause, well, again it takes 2 seconds to actually do that. Ended up returning.

I installed this radio into my 2014 Passat TDI SEL Premium with Fender audio. the fit was great! It gives my car an OEM + look. Install:This radio comes with several different harnesses and adapters but for the most part this radio is actually plug and play, makes install SUPER easy. No need for a Maestro adapter to get it to work. I do wish it came with the back up camera adapter but Eonon also sells this adapter separately (currently waiting on mine) Sound: The sound quality is incredible! It has several audio adjustments (Digital EQ, Speaker delay, Volume offset, Loudness and separate Bass frequency and gain and High and low pass filters) I’m no expert in audio tuning however the small adjusts I made compared to my old JVC double din with Maestro sounds 100% better! And yes the factory mounted Subwoofer works as well! Canbus: This Eonon radio integrates with the cars onboard canbus system. When you adjust the HVAC controls, open a door, trunk or hood it will display on the radio (Super nice touch!!) Areas to improve: As stated above this radio does not come with the back up camera adapter (I did not see that in the product listing) Using the radio with wireless CarPlay there is a noticeable delay when skipping the song (display shows next song but previous song still plays for a second or two) this is also apparent when watching videos on CarPlay noticeable delay in video and sound. Every now and then the audio on CarPlay will “skip” or cut out. And OTA update helped this however it’s still present every now and then. This issue is not a dealbreaker at all in my opinion and is likely to be fixed in another update. Final thoughts: If you are on the fence definitely give this radio a shot! I don’t think you will be disappointed. This radio really is Amazing value for the money! My last radio including the maestro adapter came out to just shy of double the price of this Eonon. As for longevity I don’t think it will be an issue but I will update my review if something comes up.

The media could not be loaded. After ordering a SCUMAXCON 7" Car Stereo Radio and being disappointed, then ordering this EONON unit with delivery being on a Sunday at my office (it got returned to sender), I re-ordered it. Worth. The. Wait. It functions with everything in my MK6 2012 Jetta Sportwagen (Memphis single 12" ported | Alpine M500 w/ custom fit bass knob | LC2i (because stock HU previously needed a LOC to wire an amp). Even still using the LC2i LOC to feed this is a vast improvement over stock! Multi-layered adjustability for sound w/ 3 save settings per level combo, quick touchscreen, sharp on games, movies, Torque App w/ Bluetooth dongle for real time vehicle info, and GPS, etc. It does everything that it says it does, and does it pretty darn well. Easy to install APK apps from USB or microSD card, expansion on these units was well thought out IMHO. My only (admittedly small) issue is that on wireless CarPlay I cannot get internet when outside of CarPlay app to browser and other installed apps. When wired via USB it works 99.9% of the time! Maybe it is operator error with setup. This is a mild frustration, but with as much as this HU does at the price point, I would buy from this company again!
