  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Fence Meow In
Editing prior review to provide hopefully more useful info. I mention cost, but must take into account free shipping as kit arrived in two very sturdy boxes, plus the netting rolls, so calculating weight/shipping, cost is much more reasonable. Everything is high-quality, the brackets are very well-made and the netting and tied are much heavier duty than expected. The kit is definitely much simpler than trying to rig something DIY. Original review below. Firstly, cost: I finally purchased when on sale, but it's still expensive. Do NOT do the math and calculate how much paying per bracket, length of netting, screws, etc. It is expensive, but compared to the cost in mental anguish of having lost a cat that escaped over the fence into the woods never to be seen again, it's worth the money. Secondly, it will either be very simple or horribly difficult to install, depending upon your fence. As I started, I had a flashback to 2016 when the fencing company salesman said "pay for cedar!" but I declined and went with whitewood. Upon starting installation found unexpected areas of rot and had to repair the fence in places, and did repent that I had not gone with cedar. So of course you'll need to assess the condition of your fence. Mine has metal poles so had to attach directly to the upper rails. Some modification is to be expected, and I had to use various bits of lumber to make spacers, support, etc., and finally installed the brackets. Speaking of the brackets, they're actually heavier and more robust than I would've expected, and should last until the end of the age (rather, will outlast the wooden fence upon which they rest). After first installing the netting on the long 100' run along the back I realized it was gapping in a most unsightly manner, aggravating my OCD. This was remedied by drinking several beers, after which it looked better. However, I discovered that by reversing the netting and hanging it with the single edge at top and the double edge on the bottom (this will only make sense once the purchaser inspects the roll of netting provided) it draped much better. It shall ever be known as the night of the slaughter of the zip ties as I had to cut 50 off and start again. Next I took a seat and watched as my several cats spent hours attempting to defeat the netting, one successfully, resulting in a few modifications, and another cat in dog-fashion digging out under the fence. $150 in landscape timbers for the base and dog-cat contained. The next morning I found a note from the cats stating that they absolutely hate my guts for preventing them from escaping, so at that point I knew the project was completed. One could rig some sort of DIY cat fence from 1956 Buick parts and construction materials "borrowed" from various unsecured sites, but in the end it was much simpler to purchase the kit rather than improvise; and there was enough of that involved anyway. I'll post any updates after a month or two, but so far, it seems to be achieving its purpose.😾😾😾 ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but effective
This product is over priced, for sure!. That said, for kitty cat parents desperate to keep their fence jumping fur babies in the yard - it works! I have a a 3 year old male Maine Coon that loves to go out in the backyard every afternoon (with adult supervision). He is a BIG cat that he can flat foot a fence like a gazelle. Despite being altered for two years he has recently decided he needed to expand his territory. I don’t want him jumping into other people’s yards or wandering into the street and despite my staking out his favorite escape spot with the hose set to fire nozzle, he would just run through the blast and jump the fence. Then, ignore my pleas to come home as he wandered around the neighbor’s yard to find a napping spot. >:-( Disobedient little brat! After his last escapade I was so mad, I was like ‘screw it! This is thing is over priced, but I am tired of chasing his fuzzy butt and frantically ringing my neighbors’ doorbells like a crazy person!’ and I purchased it. It arrived quickly. My husband and I put it up. It could be done by yourself, but two people definitely makes it much easier. The plastic netting can be a bit tricky to get smooth, so keep it taught as you install each arm for the best look. The instructions say to put corner arms at a 45 degree angle. We decided to put corner arms at a right angle because we thought it resulted in smoother look and more reinforced netting in the corners. The kit comes with 100 feet of plastic netting per roll, 12 arms per 100 feet, screws, heavy duty zip ties, and caps (to cover the holes in the bottom of the arms). For the price, 12 arms per 100 feet of netting means there are not enough arms to deal with gates. To use this system for a gate would require an arm on the fence on either side of the gate door AND an arm on either each side of the swinging part of the gate. We have two gates that we are still trying to figure out how to ‘cat proof.’ Overall, I think 14 arms should be the minimum per 100 feet of netting. Overall, this system works exactly as advertised. Once we get the gates ‘cat proofed’ then I can let our cats (1 heathen and 2 well behaved non-fence jumpers) out to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine without having to run a military style defense operation of the fence line. I must admit it was hilarious to watch him walk the entire fence line yowling his complaints about having his escape ability thwarted! I even managed to capture a few pictures of his failed escape attempts. That made it worth the price! ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars faulty and return policy is terrible
within 2 days of installing this fence attachment, my cat chewed through it and broke out. I contacted customer service and they said, "how weird! this never happens! Here, have some more netting" which doesn't make sense; why would I patch a hole with the same material that is faulty? I don't really care to gripe on the internet- just wanted to help someone avoid the same mistake I did if I can. I spent $1,200 on 300 ft of attachment. It didn't work and there's no way to get a refund, since customer pays return shipping to PA. It would cost me $1,000 to ship it back to them. I'm grateful I have sufficient disposable income to just go....oh, whatever- this is absurd! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars My cat finally gave up
My cat search for all space that he can scape. I had to build a taller fence. 6 feet for him was short. After putting the extended fence, he gave up trying. So happy

Never got it out of the box as I decided it would not work with my gates when my fence was completed. Cost $250 to ship back.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good. My one cat tried to get over it ...
So far so good. My one cat tried to get over it a couple of times w/out success. He no longer even tries. I have 2 cats and neither one of them has escaped. So it's working! The only reason I did not give it a 5 star, was it did not come w/ any instructions. It's pretty easy to install but we were unable to figure out a way to install it and still be able to use my gate. But it does the job. That's the most important thing. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works on cement walls, too.
Works very well. I have 4 escape artists (i.e. cats) and no one has escaped yet. I have cement walls in the backyard and this fence works well with them.
