  • Good sticks for beginners and practice
Drummer for over 30 years reviewing here, so I have used a few sticks in my day. These sticks are great for beginners or as practice sticks. Size wise, they are great and the finish work of the wood feels nice and smooth in the hands. No rough spots, cracks or flaws were seen in either of the two pairs. I tested the weighting on all 4 sticks and none of them matched. This may not seem important to a beginner or someone just practicing, but preference is to have matching stick weight for playing as it can change the sound/pitch of the drum slightly when you hit it. Overall, I can recommend these as a good cheap option for practice as they tick all of the other boxes. ... show more

  • Below average quality, 3 of 4 sticks warped
I'm not the target audience for this product, which is probably a parent with a kid who's just decided to try out the drums, or maybe a band teacher trying to squeeze a music department budget. I have been playing drums at the semi-professional level for over 35 years, live and on recordings, and I tend to buy my sticks from reputed manufacturers, not an anonymous brand from who knows where. But when I see sticks at this price aimed at novice drummers, I figure an honest review might be helpful to beginners, parents, band teachers and whoever. These sticks are sold as 5A maple. The dimensions of the stick seem appropriate to a 5A - 16 inches long and somewhere between .55 and .60 inches in thickness. So far so good. The tips are acorn shaped, very similar to Vic Firth's normal tips, which I like. The wood is appropriately light for maple, but unfortunately i can see evidence of knots and blemishes in the grain under light that would indicate potential breakage points under normal use. So strike one for the Mumulos. When I buy new sticks, I find a smooth flat surface such as the glass topped counter at my local music store, or my kitchen island, and roll the sticks to see how straight they are. If a stick is warped, I don't buy it. But these sticks arrived to me not straight, or at least three of the four did. One was acceptably straight. The others were warped enough that I could see light under them as I turned them on the countertop. That's not ideal, as it can lead to variances in sound as one strikes the instrument, and also potentially breakage down the line. I didn't go all the way down to one star on this review because we did actually get one straight stick. But that's like saying that one tire on the car I bought wasn't flat. The cardboard sleeves on these sticks say "You can burn passion." I don't think there's much passion to burn with these sticks. I'm looking for a Sharpie to sign these so I can throw them to the crowd at my next show; the rest of you should probably just plan on giving them a pass. Sorry. ... show more

  • good, inexpensive, drumsticks
I compared these Mumulo 5A drumsticks to my go-to sticks, which are Vic Firth 5AN. Aside from the difference in tips, the Mumulo sticks are about a half-inch shorter in length. They feel slightly thicker, but I can't see it looking at it, so it must be a very small difference. The Mumulo sticks feel lighter, and will take a little time for me to get used to. Both pairs of sticks I received were manufactured straight, with no noticeable deviation from what I could detect. The grain was light but straight. If you want drumsticks that aren't covered in marketing logos for some corporation, these completely unlabeled drumsticks might be a good choice. Being just a little bit lighter, they may be better for younger hands, and/or lighter styles of playing. That said, I'll give them a go and provide an update if I learn anything different from what I've mentioned. ... show more

  • Nice solid drumsticks!
My grandson loves to use anything he can find as drumsticks so I decided to pick these up for him. When I first took the drumsticks out of the box I was pleasantly surprised as to just how good they are when you consider how reasonable the cost is. They are well balanced, straight and have a very smooth finished surface. They are made out of maple and should hold up very well. Overall, a good product at really good value! ... show more

  • Great Set of Drumsticks - 2 Pack - 2 in Each Pack...
I used them to see how they handled. Handled great. Nice balance and easily manipulated in my hand for free movement. Excellently finished. Came in a tight fitting box I had to open both ends to push them out. A great value.
