I love this grab bar, but note that the vacuum doesn't last forever. For that reason, I renew the suction every time I step into the shower. I use this bar for balance when I pirouette under the water with my eyes closed to rinse the soap off. I don't put full weight on it, even though I could -- it's strong enough to hold an elephant when the suction is "new". After a few days, though, the grip weakens, possibly because the ceramic tile is not perfectly smooth. I thought I was going to have to drill into the tile to mount a safety bar, but this product does the job just fine with no hassle. ... show more

I had one similar to this, and it lasted for 11 years before it started to lose its grip. I had it installed on glass. I have just installed the second one in a tub, but don’t know if it will work because of the curve of the tub.

    • They don’t stay put, even on a perfect surface.

These stay on for 24-48 hours then separate from the wall. This is applied to clean, non porous tile that is coplanar within a few thousands. If they don’t work on this surface they don’t work anywhere. You’re advised to use for balance only and not to carry any weight, or you’re asking for an accident. Check them daily before using. Will be returning these as they’re no safer than putting a hand on the shower wall, and possibly less safe because you can’t ever assume they’re fixated but will at some time you’ll forget to check. ... show more

We are having renovations on our house. My MIL' shower was the first thing to be done. She had metal bars originally. Once we had the shower insert installed, our contractor suggested we find bars that suction to the wall of the shower instead of putting the old ones back in - having to drill holes to install them. My husband put these bars inside his mom's shower this morning as soon as they arrived. They were extremely simple to install, have great suction to the wall, sturdy and they are not moving or slipping at all.
