I wanted a simple upgrade to the lighting for my storage room, which has two light fixtures on a dimmer switch. I started with one unit and then after testing it out, went ahead and ordered a second unit for the room. Installation was straight forward, and I like the mounting plate, which makes it easy to attach the fixture and also allows the fixture to be easily released from the ceiling in case you want to change the color temp. This came in handy as I was installing and the wires kept accidentally moving the color temp switch when I twisted it in to lock. There just isn't much room in the space on top of the fixture, so the wires became a problem, though easily solved by adding some black tape to hold the switch setting in place. One thing I was surprised by was that the light fixture did not have a ground wire. The fixture is plastic and the mounting plate is plastic as well, plus it's installed on the ceiling, so unlikely to get shocked by it, but it does feel a little incomplete without the ground. It does a good job at lighting the room and I really appreciate the ability to change the color temp. Given this is a storage room, I went with a whiter light. It works perfectly with my Tapo dimmer switch, giving me a full dimming range. ... show more

I originally ordered this with the plan to replace a crappy single can light in my master closet. However, once I opened the box, I realized this is a standard flush mount fixture designed to screw into a junction box—it does not have the torsion springs or adapter to fit inside a can light housing. Rather than buying a separate converter kit, I went with Plan B and used it to replace a dated "boob light" in my hallway instead. For that purpose, it was perfect. The installation was standard and easy (connect wires, screw bracket to box, twist light on). Crucial Tip: There is a small slide switch on the back of the light that changes the color temperature (Warm, Daylight, Cool, etc.). Make sure you pick your setting before you twist the light into place on the ceiling! If you change your mind later, you have to take the whole light down to reach the switch again. The Result: It is super slim (almost disappears against the ceiling) and puts out way more light than the old fixture. It feels a bit plastic-y in your hand, but once it's up, it looks clean and modern. Just make sure you are installing it on a standard electrical box! ... show more

I picked this up to replace an older ceiling fixture in a smaller room, and it worked out well overall. The first thing to know is the size. Even though the listing shows seven inches, the photos make it look bigger, so it’s better suited for closets, laundry areas, hallways or other small spaces. It won’t fill a large room with light unless you use more than one. Installation is very simple. The back plate attaches to the junction box, and the fixture twists on with a quick turn. The design keeps everything close to the ceiling, and the slim profile gives it a clean, modern look. The instructions aren’t very helpful, but the steps are easy enough to follow if you’ve ever replaced a ceiling light. Brightness is solid for the size, and the color temperature options are a nice touch. You can choose anything from warm to cool before installing it. Just note that the switch sits on the back, so you need to set it before mounting. If you want to change it later, you’ll have to take it back down. One thing worth noting is that there’s no ground wire. The fixture and plate are both plastic, so it’s still safe to use, but people expecting a full metal assembly may notice the difference. The overall build feels lightweight, which is fine for a small fixture, but not something I’d pick for a main living space. Once installed, the light output is even and pleasant. It works well on dimmers too, which is helpful if you want different lighting levels in storage rooms or hallways. Overall, it’s a good, compact option if you need a bright, slim ceiling light without spending much.
