I live in the Piedmont of NC and have rocky clay soil. I had just about given up on planting anything in the ground because it would take at least an hour to dig a 6 inch diameter hole 6 inches deep with shovels and trowels. So I decided to try these inexpensive augers on my electric drill. What a difference! I found that using the smaller one first allowed me too find big rocks and work around them until I could pull them out by hand. I used the larger one to throw the loose clay and smaller rocks out of the hole. I had nice wide deep holes in far less time. The drill did torque my hands sometimes when it got caught on rocks so be prepared for that. This may be the best bang for the buck of any tool I've ever bought. ... show more

Very well built for the price. Larger one is a bit too large, smaller one is great for small potting plants....HOWEVER, the dirt doesn't come out of the hole as shown in video. It falls back into hole and has to scoop out. Even with that, it still makes it much easier to prepare an area for bedded plants. Will keep it and use it since it's so handy. ... show more

Works great! I used it to drill holes for stakes not just for planting bulbs. It did make my Dewalt cordless drill work hard. But not me!
