These frames can be used to supplement feeding for the backyard bee colony. If you are already a beekeeper and know a little about feeding your bees , you should be able to set up these feeders, but there are no instructions included, so it might be a bit of a learning curve if you are not experienced. The little strainer cups are intended to keep the bees from drowning, but these are very large feeders, too, so you might need to consider whether these are the best choice depending on your hives and your bees. The plastic is sturdy, but since it is black, it will get pretty warm. That might be an advantage or disadvantage.

These internal hive feeders replace two frames in a deep brood box. They are well made and the ladders prevent drowning. The feeders hold around a gallon and a half of feed. Great product.

These are high capacity sugar syrup feeders and have improved ladder design to prevent too many bees from drowning. They hold almost 2 gallons of syrup for heavy feeding in fall but you can easily use it for NUCs by adding less syrup. I also use them as a divider board in my 10 frame boxes to make smaller NUC's without the need for buying different NUC boxes. I just add the 5 frames to a 10-frame box and then cap them off with the feeder in frames 6 and 7. It's simple to just add new comb and slide the feeder along when they grow out. I use thinner 1:1 in spring and summer, and will adjust to thicker 2:1 in fall to add winter stores. Great overall feeders.

This feeder is sturdy. The wood cover is thick, the 3 "o" rings that secure the top are included and the plastic body is rigid so it is unlikely to distort to allow bees to enter from the sides. Ladders are included to minimize drowning bees and the feed is about the size of two deep frames. Capacity is ~1.5 gallons. These feeders should support the nutritional needs of your managed honey bees for many years.

I usually do not like the in hive feeders but I am exited to give these a try. The feeders are BIG. As in two frames wide. Ad they come with very nice heavy duty wood tops with rubber bands (hard to imagine the tops falling off) with large tubes the bees can easily climb in and out of. With this size a feeder, it should last several weeks to a month between topping up. Great for stating hives in the spring and making sure they have lots of food. IN Michigan I like to get my bees installed in early April but it’s pretty hit or miss if there is natural food available for them. Take the guess work out and give them a strong start for better change of a fall harvest first year.
