  • Better than entrance feeders.
I have been trying to figure out a way to feed/water bees in bad weather for some time. I've used a variety of "tricks" to get these ladies fed when they need the extra calories. These drop in feeders do the trick. It does take up a LARGE frame so you will lose the honey to water. I dont know about the long term use as of yet, will they build comb on it? Will it be easy to remove to clean later? We will see. The frames are sturdy, come with rubber bands that are a tight fit. And it is easy to remove parts. Easy to install (I had to shave a few millimeters off the wood to get it to sit flat in my hives) We shall see how it preforms over time. I suggest letting it air out before putting it into your hive. It had a "manufacturer " smell. ... show more

  • Bee hive feeder
Vertical feeder frame that fits well into the stand. Excellent for feeding your bee hive sugar water.

  • warped
They came nested in each other without the wood caps installed. Since they're the same size, so there was quite a bit of deformation, especially on the one that was nested inside. I haven't been able to use these because the plastic is so warped it takes a screwdriver to pry it apart enough to get the wood top in. Having them in the hive and then needing to take the top off to fill and clean them would be impossible without bringing them back into the house. Right now, I've got them assembled and sitting in the garage attic hoping they'll heat up and flex into shape and I can use them next spring. Aside from that, they do hold quite a bit of syrup and the "ladders" in the feeding holes will help keep the bees from drowning. ... show more

  • Excellent value on two feeders!
Basically get two feeders for a little more than the price of one from say, Mann Lake, save for the rubber fasteners are not nearly as robust as the Mann brand these are an identical product. So, I believe these are an excellent value. I have always used this type of internal feeder that displaces two deep brood frames, and find the most convenient and discourages ants or other bee robbers - and less mess- from entrance feeders and/or top jar feeders. These hold a little over a gallon each, so a lot less iterations of adding simple syrup. Also in cold months no risk of cold feed dripping into the hive. Sure, since these are internal the bees fill in bumps and gaps with propolis, but so are the frames during inspections, so not any harder than pulling frames. I pull the whole unit out and refill away from the apiary, when I clean and scrape them up as well. They did come stacked one inside another, so one feeder was bent inwards, but straightened out once the top wooden slat is in place. So no issues for me, that others reported as slightly problematic. I also did not experience loss of feed volume, since if you fill them to capacity they actually tend to bend outward, and straighten when the top wooden piece is inserted and the rubber retainers installed. I do notice these feeders provide great hiding places for hive beetles, so I install beetle v traps on both sides of the feeder. Overall, identical to feeder I have ordered in the past, but two for the price of one, so consider these a superb value. ... show more

  • large size, sturdy, great for my winter feed.
I like to give my hives some food in the winter when the flowers are not as abundant and these seem like they are going to be great. I have added measurements for them as they are a little bigger than others I have had in the past. The plastic is very thick and sturdy. The wood top helps them keep their shape in the heat. The one came a little warped but as soon as I put them together it was fine. ... show more

  • Good option for internal feeding.
In the past I have used jar feeders inside a box on top of the brood chambers of my hives but this year my apiary exploded in numbers and I went from 2 hives to 6 in a matter of two weeks. I didn't have boxes to spare and needed to find a way to feed my new colonies that was not open feeding. These internal frame feeders were a great option. The issue I had with them is that they way they came, only one was usable. They were nested inside each other and the one inside had been so bent, it was almost impossible to get the two apart. I ended up having to put them in cold soapy water to separate them. Once I got them apart the box that was inside was bent and smashed in. I was still able to get the top piece onto it to use it but the sides being bowed did decrease the volume of sugar water that it could hold. The feeders themselves are much thicker than I expected and hold a LOT of feed. The top clips on and then there are two tubes that extend down into the liquid so that the bees can get traction on the sides to drink the sugar without drowning. I just use them as my last frame at the end of my box and once they have built out the rest of the brood box, will remove the feeder and add a honey super. Overall, this is a great option for a space saving, no fuss internal feeder. The only drawback is you have to dig into the broodbox to fill it where a jar feeder you can fill without having to get in there and upset the bees as much. ... show more
