This small electric water heater is able to do it's job plugged into a standard outlet. No special wiring or upgrading the breaker is required. It is easy to install even though the directions are not great. I hooked mine up under the kitchen sink to the already existing hot water line in order to provide hot water while waiting for the water from our main tank to arrive. This works great for this application. It is well made from quality material and is sturdy. The temperature knob doesn't provide any specified settings. The 2.5 Gallon Under Sink Water Heater is a little hard to evaluate since it is useful only in certain situations. Let me explain a little. First off, this is not an instant water heater. You will not have an endless supply of hot water when you turn your faucet on. This is a small electric tank water heater and therefore it does need to recharge after you use your 2.5 gallons of hot water that it holds. It certainly would not keep up with a shower or bathtub, but probably would keep up with a single sink as long as you don't run the water too long. Now a tankless water heater usually requires a 220V outlet and if it uses 110V it will require a high amperage circuit breaker which a typical 110 outlet will not have. Hence you will need an electrician to wire you an appropriate outlet to be able to use an instant hot water heater. This is where this little tank heater performs. It is pulling only 1,500 watts and therefore it will not blow the circuit breaker if you just plug it in to a wall outlet. No special wiring needed. So, if you have a small hot water demand and you only have a standard 110V outlet this will work well. For my situation I have a gas hot water heater on one end of the house and a bathroom over 100' away on the other end of the house. So, my hot water line runs under the house through the crawl space before entering into the far away bathroom. This leaves anyone using this bathroom the need to run a lot of water through before they start getting hot water. I also only have a 100 amp circuit breaker box in my house and it is full. So there was no way for me to get any more electricity to this part of the house for an instant hot water heater without a huge expense. I saw this unit and thought, what if I attach this unit to the hot water line right before it goes to the bathroom. This will give the bathroom 2.5 gallons of hot water instantly and then hopefully by the time that is used up the hot water from the house will be there. I got it all hooked up using pex and it is working very well. The bathroom water stays hot with no wait times. Here are a few of my thoughts on this water heater: 1) The directions and user manual stinks. You will not figure out much from reading the documentation given on how to install and how the system works and its limitations. It is obviously a poor translation document with little useful information. 2) There is no temperature scale on the dial and no LED readout to tell you what the temperature is of the water in the heater. It is just a dial (pic 1). that turns with no indications of the set temperature. 3) Installation is pretty easy. I did it in an afternoon with a couple of trips to the hardware store to get the right fittings to make it work for my installation. 4) The pressure relief valve that came with the unit had issues. The female end of the valve screwed onto the water heater with no problem. But the male end of the valve would not allow the attachment fitting to screw on at all. It seemed that the male end was not a 1/2 NTP thread. It would screw about half a turn and hang up. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I did not see any striping of the threads or anything that would prevent it from screwing on. So finally I took off the pressure relief valve (PRV) and just screwed the attachment fitting onto the hot water heater. I will need to order another PRV because a heating water unit really needs to be able to release pressure if it malfunctions in the future. This unit certainly is not the top of the line with a few issues that I stated above, but yet it certainly has some good applications in certain situations. It does produce hot water as intended and it is at a pretty reasonable price point. So, if you read this and go yes this will work in my situation, give it a try since I believe it will perform well in those special situations. ... show more

    • Poor quality water pipes
Just two weeks later, the water pipe broke. The manufacturer did not deal with the product quality issue. I hope the manufacturer can contact me as soon as possible to help me deal with the matter.
