  • Amazing value for what you get just crappy transmitter and no aa batteries for it but other than that up to par with HPI
Like others that have said any reviews that are bad are from people who either didn't know what they were getting or have some grudge against Exceed RC. I got mine today and the only problem I had was no AA batteries came with it for the transmitter but that was no big deal as I have many NiMH rechargeable AA batteries so although they weren't included its no big deal. The Transmitter is nothing special but the receiver is actually a 4 channel receiver which is rare in a car like this. Usually there are extra plugs for a single channel so a smoke system or lights or many other things can be controlled like brake lights when you get on the brakes. The Transmitter is just a generic TX with Dual rates for steering and throttle so you can give it to a child and turn the throttle down and limit their speed. And of course it had Trim adjustments. Now to the car. It is absolutely amazing for the price. Although the 3300 KV brushless motor is some generic brand with no markings on it just a 3300 KV sticker but it performed flawlessly. I had some rubber tires sitting around and actually ran it on a road track and the torque this thing has is absolutely amazing. If you get on the throttle 100% coming out of a turn you will spin out. But what amazed me is the suspension actually came with aluminum threaded body shocks and came with preload clips but since they are threaded there is no need for the preload clips. I immediately installed a traxxas 2055 servo immediately as I know the stock servos in these types of vehicles are less than mediocre. So the faster steering really helped and it always centered itself coming out of turns cause I read a lot of people had problems with the servo staying straight. The tires are all one piece solid plastic with rubber on the sidewalls and the thing that amazed me is ive never owned a car like this in my life and within 15 minutes I was drifting around my entire house linking drifts together and going damn near sideways without spinning out and the faster traxxas servo really helped with the countersteering when drifting and it has plenty of throw both left and right to keep control of the vehicle and not only more than enough power to pull of some amazing drifts but switch over to some street tires and re-tune the suspension and your ready for a road race as the brusheless id say does about 25 MPH which is respectable for the gearing which is a respectable 29 tooth pinion and 64 tooth spur which I will quickly be replacing with a 52 tooth spur and 14 tooth pinion as the motor as gobs of torque. I immediately soldered XT60 connectors on the ESC and battery and installed a Turnigy 2s lipo and wow. So much better than the stock heavy ass NiMH. Some posts had to be cut and ground down with my dremel to fit my Racers edge 5000 MAH but my Turnigy 2200 MAH 45c discharge maxed out the ESC and gave me more than enough time to not only drift but also run quite a few laps without even dropping below 57%. It is a shaft drive which was a must for me cause I'm not gonna deal with an HPI belt system but am waiting for the RS4 Sport 3 Flux to get back in stock as it is also shaft drive and I will be getting it as it does 70+ mph out of the box. I have no complaints except the programming of the ESC was a little hard to learn at first but there are videos and as long as you keep going with trial and error you will get it I just didn't like having to turn the ESC on and off just to get to the 3 different options available. Most say to lock up the diff but I just put some Lucas Red and Tacky in and it gave me instant posi but still allowed me to take turns on the track without an extreme amount of understeer aka pushing around the curves. If your in the market for a drift vehicle or even just a track car this value cant be beat. to get onto the track all thats needed is some foamies or some rubber tires and a simple gear swap but even the stock gears will get you around the track very adequately and another huge plus is the Diffs are very easy to get to for some maintenance or to change out to some locked diffs for some amazing drifting. I will be replacing the stock generic brushless motor with either a sidewinder or a Mamba monster for speed runs but also to really get all 4 tires spinning to drift like a madman. Again very good value for what you get. Diffs are Geared BTW. ... show more

  • Really fun
It takes awhile to get the hang of drifting but it’s really fun on a smooth garage floor. It slammed on to my foot (not going fast) and the on/off switch broke and the shell cracked. Luckily, i was able to fix the switch and I just put a band aid over the crack as a design and it looked ok. Durability, not so much. ... show more

  • Awesome car
Was looking for a drift car to start out with . After doing much research found the exceed drift star Brushless to be the best bang for the buck with plenty of available support for parts as it’s the same lay out as the hsp . Would definitely recommend which I have to the guys at work.

  • its ok
It is a good Drift RC but is fragile and breaks easily whether its problems with the engine, servo, etc or its problems with the chasis. i had it for a year, and i chose to give it a 2/5 stars because it has a little more negative than positive mainly being durability to usage and simply drifting. it has to much power so it is coninuasly drifting to the point where it is somtimes UNCONTROLABLE OR DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AS WELL AS ITS BATTERY LIFE(30-40MIN OF DRIVING). IT GIVES OF FAR MORE SPEED TO THE WHEEL THAN THE CAR IS ACTUALLY GOING. THIS RC HAS A NICE BODY AND A SEXY DESIGN BUT THAT IS MOSTLY FOR SHOW. I RECOMEND THIS RC TO SOMEONE WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH "DRIFTING" RC'S. SUPPOSE YOU HAVE EXPIRIENCE WITH REGULAR RACING RC'S BUT WANT TO TRY DIFTING FOR A CHANGE BUT DOESNT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEM, I WOULDNT START OF WITH THIS ONE. BUT THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES SOME MAINTANANCE AND SOME MODIFICATIONS. ... show more

  • FUN FUN FUN!
This is such a fun and new way to drive an rc car. I got the brushless version and think you could get away with brushed cause it has an enormous amount of power. I thought it was a good price and has been a blast. I would recommend ordering extra tires with it cause they wear down pretty quick because of the nature drifting. Overall very satisfied so far. ... show more

  • This is a great 1/10 RC Car
Lock the rear diff and fill the front one with grease. My son and I took this to a skatepark and had alot of fun. The spare parts you need to keep this thing running are very affordable from their website. Both brushed and brushless are fun. The programmable esc with the brushless is a nice option.
