These are great for a beginner, these black skates look sharp with the light up wheels. I think these should hold up awhile, and I did have to tighten the wheels so that I didn't crash into someone or something since they seemed a little fast for me. The fit is true to size so if you are a half size you'll have to go up or down in sizes since I didn't have a half size option. I am a 7 1/2 so I got a 7 and it's fine as long as I wear thinner socks. I sized down instead of up because I didn't want my fit sliding all around. ... show more

After the third or fourth roller skating birthday in a row for my kids I was unimpressed with having to pony up for the rentals, and figured if nothing else I would be breaking even by getting my own. Skates came with additional bearings, the "key" of 'I've got a brand new pair of roller skates' fame, and a handy carrying bag. I'm a half size and to their credit the roller skates fit just fine. Wheels were tight out of the box, and they spin quite well when actually roller skating. My only complaint is the base of one of the skates, where the fabric that sits underneath the laces, isn't sewn equally and can cause some discomfort if you're not careful when putting it on. Glowing wheels are a definite plus; 30 years ago I would have been the coolest kid on the planet if I had them. Not being a pro roller skater I'm sure there are better options for serious skaters, but for racing around the roller rink they'll do just fine. Have not tried them outdoors but presumably would work well there ... show more

I bought these skates for my daughter and this time, i ordered to correct size. These skates are made big; therefore, you need to make sure you go down 1 size and 1/2. Example: if you are a women's 10 you should order an 8 or 8/12. Wheels light up and the skate bag is a plus. You will need to adjust your wheels so that they can roll alot easier. Otherwise, you will do more manual work forcing your legs to skate harder. For me , the looser the wheels the easier it is to skate. ... show more
